Hi

As most creature handlers are complanining of various things, I have an idea that might somehow alleviate the matter. If the maximum pet lvl was somehow related to your character level, meaning that the higher level you are, better pets you can call, this would make creature handlers pretty viable in fighting mobs that are the same lvl as your character.

Example: lvl 80 player with lvl 70 pet against a lvl 81 mob, the pet is in trouble.

If the creature handler had the ability to call a lvl 80 pet because he's a master ch with a combat lvl of 80, then that lvl 80 pet would keep agro on himself better because it hits harder, tank better because he's higher lvl, and overall be off much more help than say a lvl 70 pet.

I was a mastercreature handler in the days when frenzied graul (lvl 50) kicked ass Respeced to some creature handler today, because I really enjoyed the profession before but I can't help feeling disappointed.

Anyway, is this a sound idea? (just remember weapon lvls being tied to professsions (like commando) and character lvls (like a vibro lance))

Thanks for your argument.

the whole problem is the skill-based level system. I really want creature handlers to be able to handle lvl 80 pets, which will give creature handlers better combat capabilities andthe problem of unuusable old rare pets will be solved as well.

However in the current system, a single master combat profession is considered lvl 54, and so is a master creature handler. If creature handlers are allowed to control lvl 80 pets, then single master creature handlers might get too powerful (with some fixes that is). and if a double mastery lvl 80 creature handler is limited to a lvl 70 pet, then that pet has difficulty tanking, as well as falling way too fast.

There needs to be some type of compromise in between. Hell if it were up to me I would remove the level based system and then design every creature/npc once again for CU.

Bad idea, as far as I can see. That would mean that someone who only mastered Creature Handler, such as myself (along with DE, so no level bonus there) would only be able to call up to level 54, restricting what can and can't be used without having 2 combat professions. That would be like taking the Master Pistoleer weapon, and saying you need to be level 80 to use it. You don't have 2 master combat professions, too bad for you.

Your more effective with 2 combat professions, but you can still be effective with just 1 as well. Less specials, defenses, and the like, but still quite effective. If you only allowed CH based on your level, you wouldn't be as effective as a CH with a second profession on the grounds of only creatures themselves.

Not to mention it would make no sense. Why should you be able to control higher level creatures if you have mastery over a gun?

As far as level 80 pets go, doesn't need to be based on level. Just give an extra +10 at master, simple.

That is the exact same way they work pets in WoW. Your idea (while probably not meant to be) was totally unoriginal and not at all in keeping with the base functioning of the SWG programming....therefore it has a very good chance of being implemented. And it is true that we should be able to use lvl80. But since it would help our profession it may have no chance of becoming part of the game.

going with meuw on this one

it would give us an edge and considering what everyone is saying about how they "pawned" a jedi.....

SHADOWFIRE - MASTER CREATURE HANDLER / MASTER RIFLEMAN

TEMPEST MTK/MD - WANDERHOME MT/MM -???-???

I think I should let that guy know, I wasn't being mean to you, just being sarcastic. BTW the WoW method is that your pet is your level, hit 17th lvl your pet goes up a level. And it would fit since you only get one pet in WoW and they only want us to have one in SWG. the difference..........WoW gives combat skills to the professions with pets! So it doesn't fit with our game here.

If you consider that your creature level is tied to skill boxes, and your combat level is also related to the skill boxes you have, then you can say that your creature level is already tied to your combat level. However, it is not at a 1:1 ratio, like you suggest. While you point out that weapons are level certified, the highest level for certification is 54. Your idea of being level 80 in order to call a level 80 creature would mean that one would need to master a second elite profession just to be access all the tamable creatures. You've given an interesting idea to try to justify the existance of level 80 pets, but it doesn't quite fit in with the system now.
