Thread: Someone please help me control my pets

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong and I can't find any work around. Here are my situations

1) Pets aggro things for no reason and once they have aggo'd something, it is impossible to pull them back until they are dead. Or the reverse, something aggros the pet, you tell the pet to come back, and it just stumbles it's wayback because it is trying to fighting whatever is attacking it at the same time. So if an NPC is attacking my pet, I just have to sit there want watch the pet die because pulling it back will just cause the NPC to chase it across the entire planet because the pet keeps attacking it back, instead of just taking off running. My pets can run faster than NPCs, but they don't listen when you tell them to follow you.

2) You tell your pet to attack something but if along the way, it takes damage from something else, it will stop and just start attacking what just hit it. Bad whever area attack are involved. Then the second bug kicks in here, if you tell your pet again to attack the target you want it to. It will just stop attacking everything and just sit there. I had 3 animals going after something, 2 of them got aggro'd along the way and just stopped and started attacking what aggro'd it. Then when I issued the attack command on what I wanted it to attack, All 3 pets just stopped doing anything or either just started doing their own thing, I was no longer able to control them.

3) Same as above, you're in a situation where a pet is not in combat but not near you, You tell them to follow, in the process of them coming toward you, something aggo's it (no damage, just aggo's) My pet stops, and starts going after what aggro'd it from 60-100m away, My last command was follow, why did my pet decide to do it's own thing? Now I just sit there and watch my pet die and I can't do anything about it.

Aggressiveskin pets (red named)can be unruly and hard to control. The main thing I do with pets is keep them stored until I'm ready to use them. Traveling with aggressive pets can be tough. It's bad enough the follow bug doesn't work. And trust me, it's been that way for a long time. It's basically futile to let pets follow you.

To cure a pet attacking one target you can have them follow and select a different target, then attack. For some reason they won't break off of a target and attack another without taking them out of a combat state i.e. telling them to follow. When they run away from you and aggro something the only thing you can do is spam follow or a formation. I've not had too much problem... maybe because I'm used to it. I watch my pets closely. If they aggro something I make sure to spam follow to get them to come back before they attack. Keeping a safe distance away from lairs and targets makes it easier as well. I've been playing CH so long I guess it doesn't affect me, or I do all the right things to keep it from happening so often. It does happen to me, but not as often. The way I play I tend to not pull my pets out until I get to my destination, which is usuallyfar enough away from a target that my pets won't aggro. Crowd control, where more than one target is attacking, can be tough if your combat profession doesn't deal the damage to take care of the other target. I usually send my pets on one and kill the other, or if one pet has one target and two have another I'll focus on the one the one pet is on. Using common-sense tactics will go a long way. It used to be you'd focus on your one target because if you didn't you'd be dead, but the playing field has changed.

Until they fix the aggro bug (if it is a bug), the only thing you can do is closely watch your pets and have that follow command ready. Watch how close you get to targets.

Pets that were aggro when wild continue to be so when under your control. They can cause you a lot of trouble if you dont spam "follow" constantly. If I rest upI promptly put them in "stay" which stops this new behaviour of wandering off round the area when they get bored - looking for any trouble they can cause, lol.
