Thread: Looking for Positive input...
You wanted something positive so I thought I'd post. I haven't tried tackling any high end mobs yet, but decided to see what would happen with kimos on Lok. I discovered my pets seem to be much tougher now than pre-20. I attacked a CL78 kimo hatchling with my CL47 Graul(9000 health), my CL22 Female Narg, and my CL30 R3 droid. I'm a CL80 MRM/MCH/NCM. After using a few conceal shots and healing myself a bunch, I managed to kill the kimo hatchling without my pets getting so much as a scratch. I mean, all 3 were at full health. I then attacked a regular kimo and had him down to 1/4 health when he finally killed me. Pre-20 I would have lost my droid and my Femal Narg before reaching this point, but last night I believe all of my pets were still up and fighting even after I was slain. After I was killed the kimo warped back to its spawn point and my pets did not give chase, which was a good thing.
I hope this post was positive enough for ya.
This may be a silly question but you basicly said the pets were not taking damage, were the pets doing damage to the Kimo?

I've been soloing Gorax pretty easily as Rifleman/MCH/Pistoleer 0004. Peko peko albratrosses are downright easy, just harder to find. Occasionally, I run into trouble because of roots and snares not sticking, but the pets have been working. I usually usea bio kimo, rancor or razor cat. Wish they did more damage, but they help. I mastered CH post-CU so I don't really have a frame of reference for what CH was like pre-CU.

I can't be positive they were dealing damage, but they were in combat with it and it did seem to die rather quickly. I can check my combat logs if you'd like to make certain. That is a good question.
That was a very good question. From the little I've seen, if an animal attacks me my pets just stand and watch. If I have my animal attack first, then they will fight but of course that means the critter's family is attacking me.
Something positive may be in the 3 animal set up. Unfortunately I don't see this being useful for high end animals but here is the idea. Give each pet a different attack command and create a /tellpet macro for each attack in your tool bar. Target one critter and /tellpet the first pet to attack. Target another critter (be quick because this critter is coming after you about now) and tell the second pet to attack. Target another critter (if you're not dead yet) and tell the third pet to attack. Again, you won't be able to do this with highend mobs. You'd be dead by now, and of course your three pets are attacking 1vs1. A CL23 narg on a CL80 is death in the making. See if your animals will take out the three animals, leaving you with back up duty since there are only 3 animals in the mob.
Not to be negative but, I fear the first pet will attack the first critter just fine. The second and third pets become spectators because the rest of the mob is already in attack mode against you. Again, from the little I've seen, a pet won't attack if the critter is attacking something/someone else already. I hope I'm wrong about this however.
I don't use any combat professions, but I can rely pretty good on my CL70 Bol. Was able to have him kill a CL70 Bull Rancor, without healing him,and still have more than half health hisleft over. He was more than an equal for the CL75 Malkoc and could take on a flock of Reptilial Fliers.
His statistics aren't the best, but I've learned a few BE strategies that may help me create the perfect Bol!
