Title pretty much says the problem. I am attacking dewbacks on Tattooine with my newly tamed pet rawl ( I'm only a novice CH atm
and the snake is onlyCL 1) and I have been having it attack the lairs while I attack the lizards with my pistol. Sometimes I will pull my pet off the lair mid fight and have it help me with the dewies. The problem is that it never attacks when I do this, it just stands there.
I use /tellpet attack for the attack command and I have a macro made for this.
Example:
/target lair
/tellpet attack; = pet attacks the lair
Creatures begin tospawn and I pull them away with my pistol , one at a time, pet continuing to attack the lair. If I get overwhelmed I use /tellpet follow; and the pet responds with the blue ! and follows me, I hit my /tellpet attack macro again and again the snake responds with the blue ! but he sits there and does nothing.
Also when this happens I lose ALL radial options on my pet (s) (also happens with my spiders) except "examine". I then can't store the pet (s) nor can I store it from my datapad , though I do get all of the datapad options on the raidial.
Thus far, I have tried logging out, logging out and waiting 10-20 minutes, logging out and re-booting, logging out , rebooting and waiting 10-20 minutes. The first time I logged out and rebooted , when I logged back in my pet was stored, but after I called him again, after a few minutes, I had the same problem as before.
About all I can say is that if I have to log in and out just to use my pets then there really isn't much point in trying to level up my creature handler and I might consider a new profession (which really, really stinks btw...cause I have always loved this prof the best of all ).
Is this a common problem? Anyone have a viable solution? Any help ?

This bug has beenlong documented, well reported, and fully described for months now. So far, no acknowladgement whatsoever. The problem arises that you cannot tell a pet to stop attacking, ever. attempting to do so will get it stuck in agro until it's opponent is dead, and messing with it too much can get it stuck in perma-agro where the only way to store it is to shuttle, sometimes off-planet. A pet cannot currently switch targets on command, and once you've told it to attack, that's it until it's done fighting/

There is a solution for your problem: Replacement of the SWG developer team.
This profession (and many others) is horribly broken.
Telling your pet to attack something and then telling him to follow will render him useless until the thing he was attacking is dead. (sometimes this doesn't work either)

Grrr...this upsets me.
Thanks for the info...I figured it was probably something like that "consta-fighting until object is dead"
What bunk!
Hey but they added more fencer, swordsman and dancer animations I hear...woo
Thanks for help again, most appreciated

Actually, there is a workaround to this bug. A couple possibly. You can get your pet unstuck if you can have something attack it. Usually I get a guildmate to duel me and attack my pet, but last night I was able to use the guard command and got the pet to attack something. Seems the pet just needs to be hit by something to unstick it.

Will try to do this...but fighting creatures that have no type of Area attack, I dunno how im going to hehe. Thanks for the tip...
Oh one other thing: Strangely, my CL ten Bolotaur mount, from the Geonosian quest on Kash, doesn't have the problem like my other pets do... It does, however, inexplicably stop fighting creature lairs after about four or five attacks. When I hit attack again, it starts fighting again though, so thats a good thing. Also, I have switched it's target multiple times within the same fight on several occasions and not had the problem as with the other pets.
Sad, strange, buggy game
