Thread: 30 Second Delay.. WHAT is the big deal?

Seriously, maybe I am stupid but, I am SOOO happy about not having to find a good place to drop a camp (don't have to keep a crafting kit or bone and hide on me anymore either) that I could care less about the 30 sec thing.

Maybe its the way I fight. I never use pets in PvP, they are useless (you wanna b!tch about something...)

In PvE, here is a typical fight for me:

I goto Dath, hit the mission terms, jump on my swoop, ride to WP. Jump off bike, walk around and look for a suitable place to pop a camp, in doing so I pull agro from a mob I have absolutely no intention of fighting, get beaten up cuz I wasn't ready, kill or be killed, clone if I have to, eventually find a good place to pull my pet and then heal if necessary, THEN fight my mission.

Considering I won't have to go through THAT anymore, I love the 30 sec rule. As a matter of fact, i can't think of an instance where it will bother me.

What does p!ss me off is that when i get jumped by other players and I sic my Rancor on them that that player can kill me and then kill my rancor without so much as getting incapped.

What is the big deal?

It's utterly bogus. There is no rational gameplay reason for this delay. None.

It's another annoying timesink, another strike against fun in this game that seems to be hellbent on destroying fun as much as possible.

It's punishing CHs and everyone else who called the bluff of the devs on the camp to call requirement.

the big deal is they have yet to come up with a valid reason for the 30 sec rule.

Is it really that big of a deal, no. but what is the reason for it?

it goes along the lines of why we have to wait 10 min inbetween shuttles a 3 planet hop can take 30+ min if you have a slower computer.

It's just another one of those annoying things that seems to have little reason

The big deal is when you get to a planet, call one pet - wait 30 seconds for it to appear, hope server lag didn't cause you to call wrong pet. Then you call another pet (If CL lvl allows) wait 30 seconds for it to appear. Generate Vehicle , wait 30 seconds for it to appear. 1 min 30 seconds wasted when up until now it takes all ov 10 seconds to do that. This is if you can't call all 3 at once, if you can call all 3 at once then its 20 seconds wasted.

The Big Deal is that Devs say this is to stop exploiting, well numerous ch's have stated in the past that if we are in combat we cannot call a pet. If you want to change pets during combat , it can't be done. If you want to change pets after combat, you have to wait 60 secs before storing pets. So, once again, Explain how we can exploit pets prior to this drastic change please.

All the above is my opinion, feel free to disaggree with it, but please post accurate , clear headed answers without flaming. If you feel you must flame go for it, not like any of us can stop ya

It is another moronic dev design, plain and simple. There is no logic behind the 30 second limit, who the hell is running the show there, a bunch of retards?

Well, I see your points but all I can say is:

1. I don't see the 30 second rule bothering my play style

2. I am very thankful the camp non-sense is behind up

3. OF ALL THE CRAP we have to put up with, this is the LEAST of my concern.

Good luck guys, I hope you can still have fun with CH.

The future...

"Hey, do you have a portable crafting droid? Could you make me a Spec-Ops Duster?"

"Sure, let me get my sewing machine out."

<call>

<wait>

<wait>

<wait>

<30 seconds later>

"Okay, what color?"

The future...

Well, he's completely out of this race. He'll never be able to make up the 30 seconds required to get his bike back out of his wallet...

The future...

"Hey, could you train my lowland brackaset as a mount for me?"

"Sure. Trade it to me."

<trade>

<call>

<wait>

<wait>

<wait>

<30 seconds later>

<train pet as mount>

"Here you go."

<trade>

<call>

<wait>

<wait>

<wait>

It's annoying, because any time you're asked to pay for an obviously bad design, that's annoying.

As said before, there is no rational reason for the 30-sec rule, and the devs have never provided us with one. The rather feeble attempts to provide one have been refuted by customers pointing to existing game rules that prevent exploits, over and over. This hasn't forced the devs to come up with a good explanation ... as usual, they prefer silence to defending a bad decision.

The thing I will never understand is why the Devs continue to say they want to game to be fun, at the same time as they're adding stuff like this. I never consider sitting there waiting to be fun. 30 seconds to call a pet. 60 seconds to store a pet. Up to 2 minutes to recover from an incap. Up to 10 minutes to catch a shuttle. The thing I hate most is waiting. Where I work, we have seven cafes. I'll walk to another building before I'll wait in line to place a lunch order, but that's just me.

As has already been pointed out, we can't call pets in combat. So why place a 30 second calling delay upon us? This will affect all pets, all mounts, all droids, all vehicles, and presumably will also affect all faction pets (troopers, AT-STs, etc.). I don't understand the reason for removing the camping restriction and instead telling us we need to wait 30 seconds. I just doesn't make sense.

As it is, I carry around entire crates of basic camps. I probably go through a crate a week. Replacement of the camp restriction with a wait is hardly an improvement.

If i had to pick between pitchin a tent or waitin for 30 seconds i would most definitely say pitch a tent...since i usually have at least 2 basic camps in my inventory...which takes what...8 seconds to make each if ur a slow clicker...seriously...then about 1-2 seconds to set up...and 1-2 seconds to pick and call ur pet...thats a max of 12 seconds...versus 30...also if u say well what if im near a city, i cant make one...thats a no brainer...and if it says ur too close to a lair...and you havent been aggroed yet...i congratulate you especially if ur on Dath...and if u really want to try something new...use the mounts that u can use and just tell them to gallop...its not that tough...we have them for a reason...try them out...i prefer using my mount because its pretty tough and i can still fight with it...also ifi am using another pet it only falls behind every once in a while...not every 10 seconds...

the only reason there is going to be a patch for calling things is because of bikes... not everyone has scout skills so haveing a bike autostore 10k away from the outpost on endor/dath/yavin means death to alot of ppl, why they are out there in the first place i still wonder...

heck i walk most everywhere still when i'm out hunting... i don't go out unbuffed or without armor though, so when the pets autostore i'll still live through most everything... but if you are a MCH without bone/hide kill 2 animals and there ya go...

the 30 sec delay is gonna hurt CH not help us... more waiting bah...

has anyone heard if you will still be able to instantly call out a pet/bike while still in town/camp??? if so i guess it'll still be camps for meheck 500 hide and 250 bone gives you a nice crate of basic camp kits...

The big deal is:

I pull out my pet. Two minutes later she stores. Right now I have camps ready so I pop a camp andcall her: 5 seconds.

I pull out my pet. I kill something and head off to finish my agenda. I see something else I want to fight- but wait! Where's my pet? Did she auto-store or is she somewhere behind me? That creature is getting awful close and might break my mask scent so I drop a camp and pull out a pet. (3-5 seconds as I am hurrying)

With the day I had yesterday, the 30 second rule would have killed me. Every time I turned around, my pet had either stopped following me at some point or stored itself.

Hey, TK-421. Consider this:

You're riding along on your bike, and you get near your target. Suddenly, a red dot spawns right next to you and the combat music starts.

No worries, you just speed off and lose it, takes you ten seconds.

You circle back around and reach your target, another five seconds.

You dismount, and open your datapad to call your pet. Another five seconds.

You select "Call..."

"You cannot call a pet for 60 seconds after combat."

40 seconds later, you're able to actually call it.

30 seconds after that, it appears.

Alternatively, use the planetary map or zoom your radar out to 128m (* in the default keymap) and avoid the red dots while placing your camp.

Better yet, neither of those pointless and irritating mechanisms should exist. Vertexon is doing his best, but Thunderheart apparently hates this profession and is unwilling to listen.
