I am new to the profession and was wondering why I cannot get my Cupas to just sit back and use ranged attacks.

I had a MCH train it in all commands.

Is this a bug or working as intended ?

if there is no wild version of that pet that can use a ranged attack then the BE model cannot use it even if the BE puts one in.

Aye, ButI thought the good think was CHs now had the power to choose which attack a pet would make ie. special attacks, ranged, (and if they went that far why not melee only attacks ?)

My problem is I'm trying to level up Pikeman and I intend on being the tank. I had hoped that by using cupas (who have a spit attack in wild ) that they would sit back and let me rake in polearm and CH exp... No luck so far, they seem intent on charging into battle and no matter how many taunts I use, the opponent always goes for cupa meat.

I know, I have a long way to go but they completely borked commando, trying something else out...

Can you blame them? Cu Pa meat is a superb pizza topping!

Although I'd love to know how it is that a creature that yields reptillian meat can be milked. Go figure.

Unfortunately, the promised special and ranged commands were broken from the start. The specials have a work around by making a macro, but the ranged command has never done anything.

That wasn't such a big deal because previously a pet with a ranged attack would try to stand at 20 meters and spit at the target. It was good enough usually.

The latest patch broke ranged attacks altogether. Ranged pets charge into melee. Supposedly a fix for pets standing on top of us is on Test Center, but I have heard no reports if this fixed running or ranged attacks.

Until that is sorted out, I am afraid you are out of luck (much like the rest of us).
