Thread: Training pet specials for others?

Forgive me if this has been mentioned, but I havent seen an answer for this yet and I was quite curious. I know it says that if someone else has used a pet in combat, then you cannot train its specials, or learn them, or something like that.. but I was wondering if anyone knew if you could have someone else who has specials learned train a pet of yours without using it in combat? Just curious, as this training grind is just beyond time consuming, and maybe a way for CH's to help each other out...

thx

The pet has to have Traing Points and Trainable Ability Slots in order to learn any Abilities, so the answer is no, the pet must be used in combat in order to gain both so that it can be trained.

I hope I am answering your question...I have had another CH train one of my creatures. The creature had an available slot as well as available training points, and the other CH had the training skill I wanted. I traded my creature to him, and he trained my pet, then transferred it back to me. Does this help?

LOL, good point. I guess that was a brilliant question.

Were you then able to use the new specials? Were you also a CH or have some CH ability? I ask because I had a friend give me a pet that had several of the new L1 Abilities and yet I dont see the pet use them at all. What am I missing?

i've given trained pets to nonCHs and they've been able to use them just fine. but, the pet won't use the triggered abilities unless you give him the command. the only way for a nonCH to see the triggers is on 'list commands' on the radial in datapad, doesn't show up on the usual list.

By saying "triggered" are you referring to the innate abilities that a pet may come with, or are you actually teaching the pet specials that you have learned, and then others are able to use those as well?

My husband and I are both CH's on Ahazi server. He took one of my pets that had an available slot with available training points and taught it imperiling feint. He then traded it back to me.

I taught it my own command for imperiling feint, and the command worked just fine. This is a triggered command, but I assume the innate talents that would be taught would work the same way.

i mean abilities like staggering attack or knockdown, whether they're trained or the pet was tamed with it. those only get used if you trigger them. but in both cases i've had nonCHs able to use them, just make sure they know how to find the trigger word, it's not immediately obvious.
