Thread: Question About BE'd Non-CH Mountable Pets...

Hello

Before I begin, since the search function is currently down I apologize in advance if this has been answered elsewhere since sorting through a bazillion pages of threads doesn't sound like fun

To start... I am a Master BE and Master CH on my alt. I have created some very nice CL10 creatures, one being a carrion spat... a mountable critter. Someone bought this carrion spat and has had it trained by a master CH and now is curious about how it can be mountable. It's currently too small to be mounted, and the CH didn't get the ability to give it the saddle. Since the person who owns the carrionis a non-CH, he/she cannot get training xp for this pet... and since pets grow now based on XP instead of time, does this mean that BE'd CL10 "mountable" pets are no longer able to be mounted? Is there no way to make this work? Maybe I just don't understand the system, but I was hoping there's just something I'm missing.

So to recap... BE createdCL10 Non-CH pets that are of a mountable species owned by Non-CHs... how can these be mounted? After training all of the "normal" commands, there's no training points left, and no ability to train it with a saddle/mount. Since it's owned by a Non-CH, there's no way to get training xp - so does that mean it can never be mounted for them?

Thanks in advance!

there is a problem with BE mounts after the devs implemented the "size matters" rule. low level BE pets will be very small - high level BE pets will be very big. for mounts that means that most BE pets upto level 10 which wild kind is mountable arent mountable (too small). i think the only exceptions are bols which CL10 BE versions will grow big enough to be mounted. the same is applicaple for high level pets - a CL70 bantha will be mountable during its grow - but when it reaches a certain size it will loose the saddle as its too big to be mounted.

this was the case before pub21 (when pets grew automatically) and as far as i know its the case now when a CH have to "work" with a pet to make it grow.

so even if u find a CH to work with the BE carrion spat it wont grow big enough to be mounted.

Alright... so to test this out, I've created a CL10 bol.

I tamed it, and now am confused. It's rather small- are you saying I need to now "work" with it (I'm a CH) and gain it a level or something to be able to train it as a mount?

I find it ridiculous that they've basically taken out the ability for Non-CHs to have a mountable pet. Or maybe I'm just still confused...

Correct, the pets gain maturity as they gain training xp and levels. Once they have gained enough levels they will grow (you need to store and recall them after they level to see this). Then once large enough they can be mounted.

Pretty much the same as before, having to wait until basically fully grown but now CH's actually have to do the work to level them instead.

The problem may arise with BE pets though, that they do not grow enough even when fully matured. But you would be in a better position to test that out on a few types of non-ch mounts.

Heres how to make a pet grow.

1. Give it to a CH (Because it is impossible for a Non-CH to grow a pet now)

2. Have the CH use the pet in combat against enemies its level or higher remember that grouping with your pet will make its effective CL = to yours so if you group with your pet fight things your level or higher.

3. When it gains enough training XP for it to gain training points it will go through one growth cycle. You must store and recall it for it to actually change size.

When the pet looks big enough to ride it should be able to take a saddle.

Thank you for the replies to help me out. I'm just really angry that a large part of my market has been taken away by not allowing Non-CHs to have mountable pets anymore due to the "size matters" approach.

There aren't enough hours in a day as a CH to take some Non-CH's CL10 bol out for a spin to try and gain it in size to make it mountable for them. Not when you're used to selling 10-20 Non-CH mountable pets a day. Thanks for taking away a good portion of a BE's market, SOE. And for screwing Non-CHs in the process.

I understand that part- but I don'thave the time as a CH to "grow" every single person's Non-CH pet to mountable size for them that I sell as BE.

Thats why the price for a Non-CH mount just went into the 150K range.

The sizing thing with BE pets is still in effect however I have been "growing" a BE CL10 dewback for a guildie and it finally got large enough to take a saddle after 10-12 rollovers on the pet training xp. The pet is still small in size no larger than a lesser swarming dewback so it looks pretty silly for me as an extremely large wookiee riding it around. So in answer to your question yes nonCH pets can be made into mounts but they will have to have a CH spend about an hour to an hour and a half in a grinding group before it is large enough to actually hold a saddle. It will hurt people wanting to buy or sell nonCH mounts because not many CH are going to want to invest in the time and work to actually put a saddle on one. It would be nice to see another option implemented for nonCH mounts such as them being able to take a saddle sooner but I doubt it will happen.

The two BE mountable CL 10 pets are the falumpaset and the dewback. Nothing else gets large enough.

And yes, the size changed killed the BE portion of the market while the growth change killed the CH aspect. At least the quick-sell one. Some enterprising individuals may make a high-end market since one sale at 250k is the same as 50 sales at 5k. If you can find buyers.
