Thread: If Jedi can use Mind Trick--they can also Force Pull

I posted this on the Jedi Balance Thread in the Jedi Forum.

Problem: Jedi's don't have Force Pull or Force Throw

Facts: Vader and Luke did this all the time. Obi-wan did it, even Anakin as a young Padawan couldfloatobjects in the air. In every timeline (and other Jedi games) they have this ability. If Jedi can use the force to control animals, then certainly they have the ability to control inanimate objects. Please letJedi have the ability to pullother people's weapons out of their hands.

Solution: Give Jedi the ability to Force Pull and Force Throw weapons and objects through the air.

It's only fair, right? If they can control our pets, then surely they could yank a metal object out of someone's hand. I wonder why the devs left this basic padawan ability out of their abilities, yet they decided to give Jedi the ability to take our weapons out of our hands. I would love to have some red name explain this to us. And the dev's say they want to figure out some way to include CH's more in battle. HAHAHA.

Okay, let me give you a hint. Give Jedi the ability to Force Pull. Please oh please give Jedi this ability. They complain they aren't strong enough anyway. So give them Force Pull. I'd settle for that if you aren't going to take Mind Trick away.

Just what, Devs, were you thinking when you gave Jedi the ability to take our Pets away from us? Did you really think this would giveus incentive to use our pets in pvp? Did you really think CH's would just love tofight in a PVP battle only to see their pets ignore them (not that this doesn't alreadyhappen enough as it is...)

I'llgive you a hint. If you want to see more CH's in pvp, then take away Jedi Mind Trick and replace it with Force Pull. I'll guarantee you'll see more CH in battle then. Ah, whydo I bother even posting this? We are a hopelessly broken class....

I'm not sure what to replace it with or how it would work, but I do agree that allowing another player to take control of your pets and turn them against you is quite silly.

Especially for someone who's dedicated themselves to the mastery of creatures.

Sorry I don't think this is a good idea:
Can you imagine jedi disarming squads during combat in PVP? At least we can fire back and get our @$$es handed to us by a Jedi, but imagine just sitting there not being able to attack in PVP, sounds pretty bad to me. And what are our pets going to do w/ 14k hams, 600kish max attack, ZERO lightsaber resists, and intimidate at best (and thats a decent 65-70 BE Pet)? With your idea that negates all of ranged professions and all but one melee profession. People would not go CH, they would got TKA, at least they get Lightsaber resists through PSGs. Our pets would go down in 2 hits. Not even if you had a timer would that be a good idea.

Combat would be:
Player 1 /masterheadshot;
Jedi /forcepull weapon;
Player 1 /burstrun;
Player 2 /masterheadshot;
Jedi /forcepull weapon;
Jedi /forcepull player;
Player 2 /tell I hate you Jedi

Well, that is what is currently happening to CHs. Jedis take away our offense and defense. I see the original post with sarcasm. If CHs can be easily disarmed by Jedis, why not give them the ability to disarm everyone else?

Oh forgot one

Would you like to have Jedis to have the ability to get control of a pistoleers hands and force him to out a hole in his head by himself?

Yeah i understand it was sarcastic in that its not fair our pets get turned around on us yet there is no ability that does so for other professions. I've heard this brought up before as a basis and arguement for mind trick, and the other CH moves, but the reality is they are not going to do anything about it. We've all heard that it costs more force power, and is much easier to strike down a pet than use the abilities. So mind trick is never used unless for grieving. So I took this post more seriously because it seemed like another option to even out the jedi dominance over other professions. But yeah mind trick, animal scare, animal calm do suck.

but that way pvp would be compleatly exclusive to jedi on most servers. i know i wouldnt pvp to know that in like 3 minutes some guy is gonna come along and kill me no matter how many hours i play, prepare, buy foods and stuff, only to not be able to attack. and of course if a server had a sudden shift in the imp jedi vs rebel jedi ratio, about 30 or so people would end the entire GCW for about 700 others who arent jedi but pvp.

Aye, that's the reason i don't do PVP. Fun in PVP means to me a nice long battle, where everyone can fight for at least 1-2 mins before dying, if you are prepared and don't get attacked by 5 players at the same time. Dying in 10 secs, using the best armor around and being buffed up to the roof? Not my definition of fun. My hopes go for a well balanced JTL, hope it doesn't matter if your enemy is a Jedi or defense stacker.

Yes, I was being tongue-in-cheek about force pull/push/throw. Because obviously if they implemented this, the game would be out of whack in a heartbeat. But that would be realistic, would it not? Didn't every newbie Jedi have this ability? Yet they dont in SWG. However the devs have seen fit to give every Jedi the ability to use our own pets against us, one that was nowhere in the SW's movies,books, that I recall. But we have been beaten on for so long now, we just take it for granted that we are nerfed yet again.

How can the devs expect us to want to pvp, that they're stated goal is to get more CH and their pets in combat, when they grant Jedi the ability to use our pets against us? I would love for a dev to explain this bit of Catch-22 logic. /stillranting no2

the only way i see the CB REALLY helping us now, is to give MCHs modifiers against mind trick, and then raise our max CL to about 300 or so, with up to 7 pets out at a time. then taking into account mind tricks affect against our strength, it MIGHT be fair strength-wise.
