Asked for a refund and was denied.
Followed up with a complaint to the better business bureau in San Diego
COMPANY OR ORGANIZATION INFORMATION:
Sony Online Entertainment Inc
8928 Terman Ct
San Diego, CA UNITED STATES, 92121
(858)577-310
COMPLAINT INFORMATION:
Date Received:11/3/2005 6:21:11 PM
Primary Complaint Classification: Selling Practices
Secondary Complaint Classification: Refund Practices
Complaint:
I purchased an Expansion for Star Wars Galaxies entitled "Trails Of Obi Won" under the immpression that they were adding content for my specific in game character's profession. After i made the purchase, the announcement was made that the game was being changed and that my in game profession would not be included in the game after the revamp.
It was deceptive for SOE to sell a game or expansion on the premise of enhancing a Creature Handlers playing experience, and then removing the Creature Handler profession from the game.
I would never have bought the expansion had I known that my Profession would be deleted.
I contacted billing support to see if a rufund could be issued and here is the reply i recieved from Sony.

Yes, I will try also to get a refund and I paid for a Yearly subscription for my now soon to be extict CH,So i will be trying to get it down to a monthly payment and refunded for those months not used.I will also fole with the better bussiness burea. The way it works is if they get enough complaints they will take up a Law suit. But I am sure the Corporate Lawyers at Sony will fight it unless it is cheaper for them to settle out of court;in which case everyone on file with the BBB will recieve a check. But could be tied up in litigation for years.

I learnt a long time ago, never trust SOE. Following that logic, I have NEVER pre-ordered anything from Sony ever. Given swg and planetside as examples - this logic has served me very VERY well
