Thread: Tips for a Rookie CH?
Last night on a rancor hunt I qualified for novice ch (made Explore 4, hunt 4 and Novice CH in 2 hours time.
I currently have a bio-engineered level ten bol as a pet, which I figure I can use as a starting beast, but I wanted some help on knowing a few things.
Questions:
1. What level creatures can I control at this time?
2. What are some good creatures to tame for exp?
3. What is the most efficient way to gain exp in the CH profession?
Thanks for any all helpful replies.
1. What level creatures can I control at this time?
At Novice CH you can control one creature up to level 12. You can have up to 4 creatures stored in your Data Pad now.
2. What are some good creatures to tame for exp?
Either go with a Bio Engineered creature or one of the old standby's - Cupas, Lesser Dewbacks, Rock Beetles etc...
3. What is the most efficient way to gain exp in the CH profession?
The most effecient way to gain XP is to use weaker creatures on stronger mobs. For example take you creatures on group hunts to Dath. All the creature has to do is score a hit or two on the mob and you'll get full CH XP.
SoI turn I could sic my bol on say, a group of tusk cats or something on Rori? Or something of that nature and get fullCH exp from it as long as he gets in one hit and I take down the cat?

Yes, but there is something to the level of pet in regards to what you are sending it against. I'm a novice as well and from casual gaming (read:2-3 hours a night) I've gotten to 1/1/1/1 in about 3 nights. When I sent in an lesser dewback (level 1) against a Greater Desert Womp Rat, I got 180 XP (or something close to that), but if I used my cu pa (also Level 1), I got 200XP. The next night, the cu pa was level 2, and I was getting 270 XP from the same womp rats. I know that if you use a pet, whose level is greater than the level of creature you are fighting, you will get only 1 CH XP. But I get the impression that the current level, as well as the overall level, of the pet you are using, in comparison to the mob you are fighting, has some impact on the total XP you will get for each kill. I'm guessing this has some bearing on "reality". Even if you could keep it alive long enough to get the XP, sending a nuna against the same tusk cat shouldn't really give you that much XP. This is just what I have found, though.
I had meant to include that the lesser dewback is a level 9 pet, where as the cu pa is a level 11. The comparison being that the cu pa has a more "even" chance against the greater desert womp rat (level ?) than the lesser dewback. It's the only explanation I can rationalize to make sense of it.
