I picked up some taming and taming vicious creatures clothing last night, this gives me +28 to both (+25 with the cap). At the moment I have max pet level 22, can I tame something for instance that is in the CL30 range now or does this clothing just give me a better chance of taming a CL22 pet first time?
Second stupid question how does the Vicious creatures work, I assume a kreetle is going to be a lot easier to tame than a rancor but what decides how much you need in vicious creature taming?
Once again I thank you for any assistance.

Answer on the clothing is highlighted.I can't help onthe "Vicious" stat - I've been an MCH too long to remember the early parts of that career.

the taming vicious will allow you to tame agressive critters. You are still bound by your max level of pets mod for CL though.
the taming vicious mod is found only in the taming branch. So having the clothes will bump that mod up without you having to have the skill boxes yet. This would allow you to tame more vicious critters (of appropriate CL for you to control) than you could otherwise.

I wish someone had an answer to the vicious part of the question. There isn't any info I'm aware of that tells you just exactly what you need your Taming Vicious stat to be in order to tame certain creatures.
When I was taming aggressive creatures and they met the CL, but it still wouldn't let me tame them I'd wonder how close I was to "having enough" vicious taming. Having BE clothes that bump it up +25 seems to alleviate most if not all untameable creatures because they are too vicious.
It really bummed me out a few different times when I couldn't tame a creature just because of the mysterious vicious number needed, so I went out and got some +25 BE clothes. I haven't come across an untameable creature since.
So, I guess the bottom-line is: Get some +25 BE clothes A.S.A.P if you are serious about being a CH. I know I wish I'd gotten some sooner.

In addition to a CL, creatures have an aggresiveness rating as well... perhaps that is it? Try examining something and looking at the details.

I think the person who posted right before you answered that part. Didn't they?

Heh, well since I'm Master Ranger not sure what else I'm going to be able to see.
Creaures have an Aggressive Rating it either Yes or No
Creatures have a Ferocity Rating it goes from 0-20
While the Aggressive Rating helps to know whether it's aggressive or not it doesn't give much of a clue exactly how much you need. The same goes with the Feriocity Rating, I haven't seen that the number corresponded to what I need in my +Taming Vicious modifier. Especially since the +Taming Vicious modifier goes up to +50 while even the highest level creatures (giant canyon krayt dragon) are only +20 in Ferocity.

Vicoious comes into play when your tamming a aggressive (red on your radar) creature. So if you have a tame skill of 11 and no tame vicious skill you could not tame a CL5 agressive creature.
So if your out to tame a rancor and your tame vicious skill is only 20.. you wont be able to even though you have a tame skill of 50.
