Creature Handler Archive
Thread: FOCUS THREAD: Untamable Creatures/Uncallable Pets
Scenario 1
Creature level has been adjusted too high for a previously tamed natural (non-BE) pet to be used. This has the result of forcing the CH to decide to delete a prized, but now uncontrollable pet, or keeping it hoping for a future balance pass to make it callable.
Examples: Natural klikniks have almost universally exceeded CL 70. Malklocs are CL 75 (up from 35).
Scenario 2
Previously tamable pets that did not spawn from lairs are now being found to be essentially untamable as the wild spawns are not respawning when killed. Previously, a wild spawn would reappear up to 3 (or sometimes more) times in the same general area when the creature was killed, facilitating the chance for a rare baby to pop up instead of the adult. The new spawning system seems to be spawning a single adult, which does not respawn when slain. This affects all MOBs it would seem, and is easily able to be demonstrated.
Therefore only the fortunate veteran CHs possess these pets, and it mirrors the "Great Extinction" issues we experienced in the first several CH "rebalances." Some of these creatures are flagged as "Elite" spawns, and thus highly desirable to a handler. Fortunately, existing versions of these pets can still be used, but no new tames will be entering the population.
Examples: Great Plains Stalker, Swamp Stalker.
What I'd like from the community here is to please post any creatures you personally have seen or possess that suffer from these issues. List them by scenario type, creature type, and creature level, both previous if you know it and present. For example:
Scenario 1
Gnarled Rancor
Was CL 46 (pre-CU), is now CL 79
I'm just trying to get a list so I have something to present to the dev team. I'm guessing that given the seemingly daily balance passes we've had since the CU went live, this will change and shift for a while yet.
And please, don't delete your unusable pets just yet... give it a chance to shake the balance out. You may regret it if you do!
Please try to limit discussion in this thread, I want it clean and easy to get info so I can quickly compile a list to try and get this addressed ASAP. Thanks!
scenario 1
All Klikniks are not callable: Including my prized kliknik Queen who both not tamable or callable ![]()
Gnarled Rancor
Malkoks
I believe Kinad Baz Nitch is also up there above 70 now but will have to confirm
scenario 2
This needs to be addressed ASAP as now we have very small chance of taming anything that comes from a static spawn. That includes Great Plains Stalker, Wild Dune Boar, Magligant Squill, and Gurreck to name just a few notables. This is not isolated to just oneplanet as all planets show no static spawns. However would like to note that Kashyyyk appears to have working static spawns as all NPC spawns and creaturesdo reliably static spawn. I tested this on a Trandoshen slaver and a random Veractyl.
Would like to addKo-a:
They need to address the randomness in spawns and restore a handful of creatures back to rarity. It is my opinion that the challenge level of being a creature handler has decreased significantly and feel that CH want a trophy system reinstated.
Milteck (BEAST)
I havea Kimogila that went from lvl 50 something pre-CU to lvl 218 post-CU. I am keeping him in the event that a CSR will one day help me out with readjusting the pet.
I also cannot call one of my rancors. The Server claims he is out and called, but he is not visible anywhere. Never have called him post-CU.
Scenario 1:
Kliknik Defender: Pre-CU level 27, Post-CU level 23, currently level 73 (I think)
Also, in scenario 1 I have a bunch of pets that I was able to tame pre-CU (before the CU went live, my max CL I could tame / control was 37, still is currently) that with this latest update have gone way above that, into the 50 - 60+ range. This has effected about half my pets. Of the pets that I do have left, I can only use about 1 of them (level 34 piket), because the rest of the pets that were all untouched in level were my level 16's and 17's, and a couple 22's or so. I'm sorry, I can't remember the exact list of pets, and their stats, that have been effected. A couple off the top of my head tho: Giant Gackle Bat, Giant Crystal Snake, Crystal Snake, Skreeg Warrior
gaping spider recluse.
From memory I think it was 50 pre CU, it is now 76, and unusable.

It was 44 pre CU, just like the hunter. Hunter went to 69, recluse to 76.
An easy solution to many of the scenario 1 problems would be to up the max level of pet to 80. I don't think this would be too overpowering, since our pets effective cl jumps to 80 when we group with them (provided your character is cl 80, of course).
Scenario 2:
I'm all about getting a Plains Hunter, "elite" lvl 30 on naboo, not respawning after the initial kill....also, a bit off topic here, but the plains hunter at elite 30 currently has 8500ish health, while my gps, elite 50, has only 6300, what up wit dat?

I have been UN affected by the first senario, lucky me all my pets are callable. However the second senario affects me ALOT.Taming is my game so being teased with no spawn tamable "yes" is not good for me. I dont think its fair that some ch's have stuff others cannot get example: I have a wild dune boar, but now up comming ch's can't get one because of the bug, some people would think that was cool but I don't. Everyone should have a chance.I think senario 2 should be your priority.
As for senario 1,.. I am guessing skin wise nothing was effected that cant be made from a bio (skin wise) ?And as somone has brought up before its kind of a problem... How do you have a place where everything is high enough level to get exp yet not over power chs by letting them tame everything. Was there solution to make Bio skins untameable high levels?? If yes, I cant sayI disagree
( I need Stone skinhandak )

Just a thought for those with bio pets now uncallable.
Pet trade in system may be able to be fixed and tweaked for ch's to use. When handing the pet to the "trainer" it would then allow you to keep the same skin but adjust the level and statsappropriately . Might be nice to even have a say in what level it could be balanced to.

Looks like Armor on your pet will automatically set your pet over the limit if it was a BE Pet. I also hope my TMB still has armor, or at least some decent resists.
Anyone have ones of those cl10 Armored Pets with a basic skin that have reset the level on?
