So, after reading through the concept docs for the smugglers and seeing the "Slicing mini-game," I thought, why don't we have a taming mini-game? It would only make sense that taming should be based on some type of skill/knowledge instead of some random chance, just like slicing. Do you guys think this would trivialize the combat aspects of CH and make other profs. look down on us? Or would this be a good way to make taming more involved and exciting? Personally I think it'd break up the monotony of "Good... err... boy" and whatnot.
It could be something as simple as picking what to say based on some type of feedback from the pet like an anger/attention level. If anger gets too high we get an agro, or if attention drops too low we fail. Maybe food could help, but I was thinking something simple: two bars and a drop down menu for what to say... What do you guys think?

It would be interesting if they did do something like that, obviously our mods would need to come into effect and make it easier for us to tame the pets based on our skills - the better we are the quicker we can tame the pet and thus less chance of us hitting an agro or a fail - obviously for taming the more nasty creatures it'd take longer and the critter would need more care taken with it. Anything that adds to the gameplay is good - i'd be up for it!

I think the game could use more "mini-games" along these type of lines. Very simple, yet somewhat entertaining to keep people involved instead of writing macros...

/agree
yeah, that could rock. mini-game to tame, with actions: /proposeFood
/caress
with a scale from 0 to 100% taming process. each action can increase (or decrease if not the right one) the scale.
Like i you're at 0%, you're bot goin to "caress" it. need to /comecloser, then /proposeFood, ... to reach 100%

I would like to see more minigames like this in the game and taming pets seems suitible for such a minigame however I'd rather the devs adress our other issues first, should keep them busy for a few years

I agree that our issues should definitely come first. I just thought that it would be nice to see more minigames to add some more flavor to the game.

Sounds pretty cool, and I did like the little logic puzzles that are part of some of the Aurilian crafting quests (perhaps you're thinking of something along those lines while taming?). We could look at adding this somewhere in the Issue/Request list, certainly. Planning to do a reorganization of that list in the near future.

I actually haven't done those crafting quests, but now that you mention them I will have to check them out. This is by no means something important, just something I thought would add to the fun.
