Are you a newb to the game or a newb CH?
Either way the point is get into somones group who is on a meat/hide collecting mission. Another CH, Ranger or Scout. You loot your way through scout give them the meat/hide for protecting you and training. Then you go get your Novice CH. Go back rinse and repeat. Dantooine can be a nice place to Solo.

Have you tried hunting with a pet around the newbie towns? Not to mention taming as many of the baby animals that you come acrossas you can? Or, you can also get into a group (note: NOT a solo group) and set your pets to attack whatever the group are fighting... just wait until the target is low in health first or your pet might get hurt badly or even incapped.
With regards to taming: I found out quite by accident that if you are wearing some BE'd taming clothing, that you can tame the little vicious creatures (like crazed durnis) without needing Taming 2.

Rori is great for tame and release...which is nice until you have pets that can stand up to rancors...once you hit a level 20 pet....lesser sarlaac pit on dathomir...ch xp heaven
