Thread: Can your pets Guard you?

Hello guys. I was wondering if we as MCH have the power to have our pets guard us at all times? I can have pets guard a friend when hunting, but I'd like to be able to walk around overt with a nasty petby my sideat all times with that pet guarding me. That way If I get hit out of the blue I won't have to tell it to attack. That wayI can open fire at will while the pet attacks whoever took the first shot. Is this something that we can do? I hate getting hit and just watching my pet just stand around waiting for me to give the go. I'm too worried about keeping my head up without thinking of sending my pets in for the kill. Can this be done at all. Can I be guarded atall times? Man, that would be worth all the grinding alone!

Yes your pwts can guard you (and do so pretty effectively). You must first target yourself (use /target self or press ctrl+1) then issue the guard command. The instant something goes aggro on you they will attack it... sometimes before i even realize i have been aggroed.

Yes, that is the purpose of the Guard command, when it works. Your pet will attack the first thing that attacks you. If you see a ? above the pets head after giving the command it did not take. I see this alot in buildings and around buildings.

I've tried that and most times I get that little question mark that floats over his head. Boy I guess I asked a really dumbass question. Sorry about that.

Since I don't want to ask another dumb question and startnew topic, I'll ask it here. If you are attacked by someone elses creature can you throw traps at it? I never thought enough to try it.

Oh is that what I am doing wrong? Thanks I will try that. The guard command used to work jsut fine (i thought) many months ago. I must have missed the memo on the targeting change.

I never select myself before commanding guard. I just make sure I have nothing selected at all, give the command, and off we go.
