I went to Dath to give it a go at taming a Youth Rancor, it says tameable under the Examine menu. I found one, put on mask scent and tried to approach it. Before I can get to it, it will discover me and agro me..

I haven't been CH in a while, so I forgot...how exactly do you go about taming aggresive creatures agian?..

It HAS to say baby. if it does not say BABY don't mess with it, or kill it so a baby might spawn. MASK SCENT!!! get BE clothes and jawa beer, if you can find any. they say, it also helps to approach from behind. the slower you move, the less chances you are to break mask scent. if you have the skill points, get master scout, for the bonus to mask scent.

also, it depends on your lvl, if you do have enough points in taming viscious creatures, you cannot tame it no matter what.

In addition to the above instructions also make sure your auto attack is OFF. Refresh your mask scent right before attempting to tame. If the baby aggroes you (which high levels will do very often) just turn and run away from the baby til he stops attacking you. Then refresh mask scent, turn and follow the baby again staying as close to him as you can as you attempt to tame. Sometimes it will take several attempts. As long as you are high enough CH level to tame the baby it will work with patience, good +25 Tame Vicious/Wild animals Bio Clothing, Mask Scent and no aggro from surrounding mobs. You may have to first clear the area of potential attacking mobs first but just be careful the baby doesnt get killed in the process.

Also ive noticed that the further from the adults the baby is it seems a bit easier to tame. I dont really know if this was actually a pattern or just worked out that way. Maybe the "parents" have an influence if the group is close together? It just seemed to me on dath when the baby was right undert moma and following her around i got alot of failed attempts on the kalimurith's, about 10 fails in a row. Then i found some about 15 to 25m from the adults and tamed them in 2 or 3 attempts. Not very scientific of a test but hey it seemed to be working that way

One thing I've noticed... you don't have to run away from the lair to lose the baby's aggro. Just run around the lair in a wide circle until it loses interest. It appears the baby's aggro is on a timer and has no bearing whether you're within range or not. I used to think getting out of range would cause aggro to drop, but it's not the case. Also, be careful of running too far away from the lair or the baby or lair might depop.
