Thread: Hmm, this just occurred to me....

Babies are now the same level as the adults now, aye? Well, how exactly is one going to go about taming the high level critters if they are a single combat mastery, as I am? Unless I get unbeatably lucky and get it on the first tame with no aggro, which has little chance of happening. Previously, I could use my ungrouped level 69 Kinad Baz Nitch to slowly kill until I got a baby, but with the babies being just as big if I get aggro my little CL54 arse is going to get chewed up like no other. And I doubt I'll be able to talk a level 80 into grouping with me just so I can tame something....

I guess we could call you pet food. Yep, that may be a promblem. It is bad enough dealing with the adults that are near. Now add the babies that do the same damage and you have problems.

Another concern that I just discovered:

I just found a whole flock of Pharples and started killing them with the aid of one of my existing pets (a CL 70 Vir Vir). A couple of babies spawned and I tried to tame one of them... something I had been accustomed to doing. Well, I got the message that "calling this pet would exceed my level of control" so I had to store my Vir Vir before I tried taming. Fortunately, I successfully tamed both Giant Pharple Babies (and they both had Agression L2).

What concerns me is if I were to try to tame a highCL agro creature with no protection in the form of a pet set to guard me.

It looks to me thatin future, we will NEED to be grouped with a CL 80 (or 2... or 3) in order to even attempt to tame any of the high CL agro pets.

If there is a group of CL80's doing missions in an area. All the wild spawn will start turning into approxamitly CL80's, give or take 2 levels. Now if the lair changes its CL level, the baby will stay the same CL base level of the species.

I have seen this on TC. So, what your seeing is wilds that are spawning at therenormal CL level, not a modified CL level.

For the same reason Maisland discussed, I usually had to store my pets before taming. So I just got in the habit of running whenever a tame would aggro me. This was even though I am CL80. Just not as affective in combat without my pets. So wether your CL54 or CL80 the same solution is RUN.

I just spent a little money on an upgraded taming outfit which included mask scent and taming clothes. That helps a little.

Um... It's my understanding that Mission Lairs will no longer spawn babies... and that babies that spawn will be the same CL as normal (wild) spawns of that creature type. So I am afraid that I don't understand what your point is. You only get CL 80 creatures from mission lairs (with a few exceptions such as Krayt Dragons, Kimogilas and the like... which don't have babies anyway).

Yes, running is an option. But the problem is if I'm CL54, and I'm trying to tame something thats level 65, its purple to me. Very likely that it will tear me apart before I run far enough to lose aggro. And as already mentioned (meant to say it myself, slipped my mind though), I can't have any pets out if I'm trying to tame something thats level 65 and my max level of combined pets is CL70. So I don't even have anything to help me take it down if the need arose and I was willing to kill off the baby to survive. Droids won't work, because once the creature finishes chomping the CL30 droid then it'll come right back after me again.

just keep your speeder out and close byso you canjump on it for a quick getaway as soon as you get agroed

that's what i've been doing so far. once you loose agro you can even return and try to retame the same baby

although, let me just add that i am also master carbineer and CL80, so i have a lot of time to make my getaway before the baby puts a dent in me. if you are only in the CL50s then you better be real quick or you're dead
