Thread: Returning CH needs advice
Now, I'm CL 63 (Master Carbineer with some Pistoleer). I pick up Novice CH, and discover without surprise that I can still only tame a CL 12 critter at Novice. This presents a bit of a problem...I took my new critter hunting on Talus, in a group, and it died so fast, and so often, that it took two hours to level it up (to no apparrent purpose, in my mind...no increase in stats or CL, just a few skill points that I can't use yet), and I got next to no CH experience for it myself.
As I see it, the only way I'll be able to build up CH at any significant rate of speed is to drop myself back down to CL 12-14...meaning dropping my Elite professions, which took me quite a long time to get, being a pretty casual player. Otherwise, I don't see any way I'll be getting any CH skill boxes in the near future. Can anybody offer any advice on how to make this work without me having to drop 50 levels? Please? I want to love CH again the way I once did, but not if it means mutilating my character to do it...

Possible Training XP Feature and/or Bug
There appears to be a way for pets to gain Training XP at a fairly steady pace, that is based upon the CL vs CL XP model for toons. Here is how it works -
- Chose a pet that you want to bring the maturity levels up on.
- Find a type mob that is of appropriate CL as the pet. If the pet is CL4 then find mobs that are in the CL1 - CL5 range.
- DO NOT group with the pet.
- Have the pet attack the mobs, while healing / helping it in combat.
- Wash and repeat
This method will give your pet full Training XP, with minimal risk to the pet, or you, if the pet is 15+ Levels lower then you are. As long as you do not group up with the pet, it will gain Training XP fairly quickly, compared to using the pet in your normal combat group. If you group up with the pet, and attempt to kill mobs that are of a lower CL then your own, then the pet will only gain 1 Training XP. I believe this to be a feature addition, since it would allow a CH the ability to train 3 non-CH creatures in a relatively short amount of timeso that they can become fully grown to use as a mount and given Abilities.
And just to clarify, using the pets to kill mobs of a level appropriate to their own, will give you XP based upon your Level vs the mobs level. This means that if you have your pack of kaadu female (babies) hunting CL14s and you are a Level 80, you will only gain 1 CH XP, while your kaadu will gain full Training XP.
There is a bug related to this however....
Approximately 25% of the time, when using this method, you will gain CH XP that is equal to the XP that you would gain if you were the same CL as your pets, plus your normal XP. This means that in the above mentioned kaadu female hunting pack, approximately 25% of the time, you will gain 1 CH XP and 600 (this number is only an example and not the actual amount of XP that you would gain.) CH XP. When this occurs, you will lose all /harvest and /loot rights to that kill.
