Thread: Yellow babies aggroing w/o attempting to tame?

I had a strange experience that I wanted to see if anyone else ran across. I was farming a wild bull rancor lair (rocky shelter) where I would zoom by on my vehicle, let the lair spawn, zoom out 500m and come back to let it spawn again. This, obviously, is to allow for baby spawns with hopes to get a Bull Rancor baby. Most of the time it spawns baby rancor youth or regular baby rancor.

Anyway, the strange part is when I zoom by the lair and the spawn, if there is a baby, I noticed that once in a while the *yellow* baby goes aggro on me (and hits harder than a baby used to, I might add). Is this supposed to be normal for the new creature code? I thought babies were supposed by stay non-aggro until you critically fail an attempt at taming it.

well I know that since the babies have been made to match the adult lvl right from the start, they hit just as hard as an adult. I did havea similar problem on lok with a perlek ravager baby. I was about to tame it... when it agro'd even before I attempted to tame. I managed to run and come back to tame it but i was def weird...

Yikes... taming babies sure is a lot harder than it used to be.
I never ran into a baby which aggroed me on the spot, but when a critical failure tame rolls around, I know it's time to run. Taming anglers used to be a lot safer than now. /sigh

Since babies are now spawning with full CL / HAM / dmg, I wonder if they're also tied into their parent's aggro, but it's not being displayed properly? So a baby bull rancor may be showing up as yellow on the overhead map, but the game still treats it as a normal rancor including chance to aggro even without a taming failure.

Could be either a display bug (showing up yellow when it's actually an aggro creature), or a bug in the baby code (not supposed to be aggro, but it is).

If it's a display bug, I guess CH's will have to be more vigilante with keeping mask / camo up constantly.

Is this something we can get Ko to ask and see if this was as intended?
