Thread: Using pets while doing missions?
Creatures help with missions. THe payout is dependent on the planet. The higher level the pet the more you get out of it. A high end pet usualy gets me about 40-50% larger missions than I normaly get with pistoleer.
Wild pets and wild MOBs are about equal. If you are a master CH the special attack commands can give you a good edge though. Basicaly you would do well to assist your pet in the offense department with something.
BE pets are generaly better than wild ones. They tend to have higher stats per level if made well, however some specials and resists they can not preproduce.
BE+CH is fun, but take a bit of some combat profession. Pistoleer is good for BE+CH as you get a lot with a small expenditure. If you realy want to fight well go for full rifleman or TKA.
What kind of missions, from a mission terminal, can you do with a good pet... 3k missions or maybe 5k?
How well do these pets tank a monster, i mean the monster and pet are basicly the same thing. If you had a certain pet and leveled it up and attacked a familty member of it, and they both would be same level, would the pet die and the original monster win? (in daoc, dark age of camelot, charmed pets are worse then the original monster and cant win a fight vs a same level monster of same type unless buffed or helped).
Are bio-engineer pets better then wild ones?
What are good professions to get along with creature-handler?, i was thinking of something like creature-hander with bio-engineer (for pet heals).. but i dont know how good the pets are yet, maybe i am forced to go an offensive profession aswell...
Ill add more questions later, just hope someone can respond
It really is all down to playstyle and what you enjoy doing. Any combat prof is good with CH. A good mix would once have been Scout, Ranger, CH. But, unfortunately, our pets aren't the offensive weapons they once were (and you'll find many people around here who will be more than happy to go over that topic at great length; whether you want them to or not).
Needless to say, it really is all up to you. My own template is going to be MCH, Ranger 0040 and M Pikeman. I plan to go through all the combat profs and see which works best and which I'm most comfortable with. Rifle or TKM are next on my list.
Anyndel
Mission payout depends on planet, the more dangerous the planet the better the payout, I usually do 11k mission on Endor, but I'm careful what I pick as I know some 7k missions that will get me killed.
My pets mostly tank and I do the damage I'm currently pistoleer, but I'm switching to rifles and TKA.
Not all BE Pets are created equal, but the good ones are way better than there wild counterparts, I just created a Cuddles CL15 10K/7K/4K 60% Kin Res (all others Vun) last night and his Light armoured cousin Babe CL29. Cuddles was actually a failure I was hoping to get light armour, got a failure that buggered the Fortitude result.
As others have said you really need at least one pure combat prof to really rake in the money doing missions.

I recently came back to the game after being gone for 9 months. I have a few questions of my own.
1. Do missions terminals take our pets into account when calculating mission difficulty and payout? ( I ask because I have tested it quite a bit over the past 3 days and my grouped pets are not making 1 difficulty level of difference).
They do, but if the pet CL is low enough it dosn't always make a difference. I usualy haul out my single CL 68 pet for getting missions.
2. What planet and mission type are our best money makers these days? The most I have been offered on any planet is 12k. Im fairly high in pistoleer, almost to master (about to drop for rifles though).
Janta missions on Dantoween seem to be the best money for trouble now a days. Enraged rancors on Dath are 35K and not too bad to fight, but take longer than the Janta which are NPC MOBS.
3. If pets are taken into account, are puban missions still obtainable on Endor? (25k a pop back in the day and they didnttake very long at all). When I left the game I was considered rather wealthy (very few non crafters had over a million credits). Since returning I realize it will costmore than I own just to update my weapons, armor, and pets to compete with todays SWG. Dissapointing.
No Pubans any more. Now its Janta's on Dantoween.
4. And last I have a general question. Why did they nerf my graul maulers to hell and back for being too "powerful" but allow bioengineers to make a pet with higher kinetic resists AND light armor, not to mention lightening fast (running speed wise, I just bought a cl 32 tusk cat and a cl 34 gurreck, both with 10k ham and 45% kinetic..mmm k). I don't get it. The pets we bled getting, raised from infancy, and were our loyal compantions are nerfed and made obsolete so that we will have to spend 100-200k or more to replace them with something similar.
Well, kind of a long story. They decided to redo the whole combat system, starting with the creatures, and since our pets are creatures.... They wanted critters of a given level to be similar in power. Maulers were way off the curve, better than rancors at 20 levels down. Not too balanced. Allong wtih that came a general down grade in creature power across the board. Then they fixed BE so they could actualy do something pet wise. But the system is screwy and cl 35 be pets arn't much weaker than cl 70 be pets. (although there are differences). Anyway, the nurf was too strong since they never got around to finishing the combat balance and we were the only class effected. stopped the dabblers everyone here whined about incesintly.
1.) Yes, but it depends on your level as well, so if there isn't much difference you won't notice it, best to group with your highest cl pet.
2.) I usually to Endor, I'm low in Pistol's but usually get 11K missions, also dropping it for rifles
.
3.) No idea, I've not seen any but I'm not that high level wise. Yup it's pricy alright.
4.) They "adjusted" us and our pets for the combat fix that still hasn't gone in. We don't have many dabblers now though
. If you want a PvE pet you should be looking for a 10-13K ham with 60% Kin and Light Armour.
