Hello Im thinking of taking some CH on my doc. Im not sure what to take if I go this route. I will only have enough point to go up two branches fully and the first box of a third (or any other combo I guess ). Anyone have any thoughts on this?
The pet would really just be used to keep stuff off me when i harvest resourses and when I check my harvestors. I have the rifle line of marksman so I also am wondering if there are any pets I could use that do mind damage that would compliment my damage. I get tired of doing nothing but buffing or healing and it would be nice to harvest my own avian and herbavore meat for a change of pace.
Thank you to anyone who responds.

Hi, welcome to the ranks of Creature Fondler, I mean Handler
Personally I would do the first and third rows. The first gives you the skills to tame vicious creatures and the third allows you to train your pets to do tricks, which heal their mind. I am relatively new to CH myself (2223) so I can't give you a definate answer, but I'm sure one of my fellow CH will gladly help

First, you should know that the CH Skill Tree was changed last year to prevent people from "Dabbling" in it. There are no trees to go up that give you most of the abilities. The first tree's second box give you the ability to train agro creatures, they show up as red on your radar. The second tree increases the amount of pets you can have in your datapad. The third tree gives you the Trick commands but you only need trick 1 to heal your pet's mind. You can also buy BE clothes to give you the skills in the first tree.
You start being able to control CL 12 creatures. This increases by 2 for each box you train in the first 2 rows, by 3 for the third row, and by 5 for the fourth. Alot of people just go 1111, then 2222 and so on to raise the CL as quick as possible. Others train by looking at the commands they are going to want. All pets do kinetic damage. Although some have special attacks that could affect the mind when theywork. It is flakey. A good source for pet information is www.swgcreatures.com.

Thanks for the help. I have a friend who can get me the pets as hes a master creature handler. I would ask him but hes very busy atm in rl with a job switch. I guess im looking for the best combo that will allow the most creature level for me and the ability to heal there minds (shouldnt have too much problem as a doc with the other stuff). I guess im just wondering if all that still applies if I really dont need to get my own pets.
Thanks again for the help

You should be aware that you have to be able to tame a bet before you can use it. You do not have to actually tame the pet yourself but must have the ability to or you will not be able to call it. That is why CL is so important.
Not to talk you out of CH but for what you want to do you can probably save time and just buy a real good BE non-ch pet. A BE can build a non-ch pet that is much more powerful than anything you could tame or use that is a wild pet. You want something with high kinetic resists and high HAM. I have seen 60% kinetic resists non-ch pets with close to 10K of HAM. Then all you need to do is buff the secondaries and you have something that will out do about any wild pet that a non-MCH could find in the wild.

I messed around with the char builder, and as far as I can tell you'll be able to get a CL 36 pet. If you go 4/4/0/0 you'll have the most pet storage. This leaves 4 points left over...You can get a good CL 36 BE pet with armor from most any BE who does pets...

also not to talk you out of it..but you can buy a TANK droid to run interference for you..and not waste those points.
CH is for the Dedicated... wink.
