I am getting back into CH and I think the rare pet hunt will be what I will focus on most once I have the skill to tame them. I was just curious to see how long it took those of you who hunt rare pets to get your first one once you started looking for it. Thanks.

I haven't really gone rare hunting, ever since I found out that you could not get frenzied anymore. But I am seeing that it is taking alot of people a long time to get bull rancors, and though I knew they were rare, did not realize just how hard it was. That being said (shoot me later), I was out on dath this past saturday hunting rancors with a buddy, when not one but two bull babies spawned from nest. I was unfortunately on my alt character (master sword/master fencer). My first thought was to call cease fire and frantically change chars while my bro held the area and watched the pets. Then I considered the time and practicallity in changing toons, travelling, and working my way back to the spot to try and tame these. I figured that I could come back later sometime and find another. Now I am thinking to myself: Were those the "ones that got away"? If they are as hard to come across as you guys are making them out to be, it may be a very long time before I get that opportunity again. Drats.
OK now you can all shoot me!!!

its impossible for anyone to have been searching for a bull rancor or GPS or any of the "new" tamables because they were never tamable until December 16th, which would mean the longest anyone could be looking for one is almost 9 months, like Aak has stated. just thought i'd clear that up

Yeah, you are correct. I bet it feels more like 9 years for some people. lol I count missions. My Skreecher took me 62 missions. I stumble on my Prowling Gurrek between missions for the Skreecher the same for my Arcane. I am now at 200 Bull missions and counting.

Haven't started hunting yet, trying to get Tracking III under ranger, but as soon as I get it, that GPS will be mine.
I did find a bile-drenched quenker, are they uncommon or common?

1 day to 5 months. Wow, I guess that is what they mean by rare. Knowing my luck I will stumble across them before I have the ability to tame them and then they will disappear once I start looking for them for real.

I wont tell u time but how many lairs/static spawns i went through before taming them.
- bull rancor:did 140 lairs and gave up looking
- great plains stalker: killed 36 adults = 9 static spawns which took me forever to find since i wasnt ranger, no spawn
- malignant squill: never tried
- wild dune boar:never tried
- arachne widow: 1st came after 14 lairs 2nd another 94 later
- merek deaths head: got one on my first taming trip as master CH....if it hadnt run into a pack of boar wolves, never saw a baby again
- gaping spider queen: 1st took me around 14 lairs....secondi got by chance driving past a lair
- mantigrue screecher: 20 Lairs for the first, 21 later came the second.....i guess it was a period of many spawns on infinity, caught 2 on the same day
- swamp stalker: killed about 12 adults and 1st one caught.....8 later i got a second
- thune grassland guardian: saw one recently, but had dropped mch....made frantic tells to everyone i knew....noone wanted it, can u believe it.
- Rhoa Kwi Packleader I think around 25 lair
