Thread: Post NGE profession until CH returns. I think Jedi

Hard for me to say at this point, because I haven't been able to squeeze into TC yet.
But are Jedi a good substitute for former Creature Handlers? Impossible to say; I'd have to be able to read your mind and discern what you find entertaining. BUT... since I happen to be a former Creature Handler and a current Jedi, I'll give it a whirl.
First, the similarities:
- Creature Handlers have been nerfed repeatedly; Jedi have been nerfed repeatedly. You should feel right at home.
- Creature Handlers are a shadow of their former selves; Jedi are a shadow of their former selves. See above.
- The Creature Handler profession has a huge, loyal, long-sufferingfollowing; the Jedi profession has a huge... erm... a huge... ah... yes; well, they do havea huge following. You may or may not feel right at home here, because the Jedi forum is a vast, smoldering slag pit, but the last few days might serve to acclimate you a bit.
- Creature Handlers are by nature gentle, kind-hearted souls; theoretically, they would make good Jedi and be a breath of fresh air if they can hold their own and be recognized among the l337-speaking pwnzorz currently running around Theed and Bestine with their glowsticks. But because Creature Handlers tend to be easy to get along with, they tend to be easily overlooked. But being easy to overlook is is a good trait for a Jedi.
Now, the differences:
- Creature Handlers tend to be by nature gentle, kind-hearted souls. This trait is lost among a substantial percentage of the GCW crowd, who still loathe Jedi because Jedi were so much more powerful than they prior to the Great Combat 'Upgrade'/Jedi Nerf of April 2005. Six months is an awful long time to nurse a grudge, but don't bother reasoning with them. It's a waste of finger strength. Just smile pleasantly and go about your business, andlet your discoveries ofthe ones you can relate to come as a breath of fresh air.
- GCW l337boisalso tend to shoot their mouths off about there being 'too many Jedi.' And a certain percentage of late-coming Jedi are 'respec Jedi,' or powergamers who took full advantage of the many 2x XP weeks and the free respecs to powergrind their way to complete templates within a couple of weeks. These characters are as much of an ongoing annoyance as the GCW l337bois. Ignore them as best you can, and pretend you're not one of thousands of Jedi.
- That said, if you are good at ignoring petty annoyances, Jedi might be a good choice for you. There's nothing like hearing that firstsnap!-BZZZmmmmmmmmmmmmm-WHOOP-WHOOP-WHOOP-KSSSHH!!! of a lightsaber you've crafted yourself, using materials you've gathered in one way or another yourself. Remember always... Jedi is what you make of it.
Well from a roleplay perspective becoming a Jedi makes sense. The empire (SOE) has stripped me of the power to call and control my pets. The actions have devistated my business. My pets dead, My business no existant. I guess I will go with Obi Wan and become a Jedi like my Guild before me ( Yes most of my first guild are Jedi now and not by respec ).
