I know that the chances of getting my favorite profession in the NGE is almost moot...however I think pets could work well in the NGE. Please hear me out.
First of all, due to the pace of combat, pets would have to attack faster. The damage they do would not have to stack on top of a CH's weapon for example, because they aren't using one.
WHAT? CH not getting a weapon?
Well, a pet could be a CH's weapon...and in the weapon slot could be like a training whip or a whistle or something. This item would allow us to control our pets through commands the same as other classes. The attack command could be keymapped or whatever.
During combat, the CH cannot attack or be attacked, as he is only there to provide support for the pet he has tamed. He could issue commands, throw in a heal (pet only heal), tell it to be offensive or defensive, etc. The CH can also use a weapon like a pistol or rifle but ONLY IF THERE IS NO PET CALLED!
The CH could still tame pets, and could get the highest creature harvest count in the game (helps crafters).
Please Tiggs, after 2 years as a CH, and no "blue glowy" for us vet CH players, no compensation for losing all of our pets, please atleast tell me what you think of this.

Just found on the DE-Forum - CLICKY
so far to the argument that the game system of the NGE wont allow pets to be used in combat.

Uh, yes, I am a moron ... but am I reading that DE post correctly? Players will still be able to call and use droids in combat? Seriously, is that what I read?
