Within the next few days SOE will announce the addition of tenth profession. They will do this in order to close the door against about the only way a lawsuit can be brought against them for the new changes. The new profession will be a BE/CH with a new name. The new profession will have the current CH, and DNA sampling and creature creation of BE. Those who choose this profession will use pets instead of guns in battle. Which means the CH will not be able to equip a weapon. At least not a very good one. The CH will not draw argo unless they are combantant or special forces. As the CH gains xp he/she will get better DNA samples and be able to control more and higher level Creatures. Just wait. To avoid the bad press by reducing the lawsuit risk they will fix this.

They will already have analyzed the lawsuit risk before taking the CH out of the game. Now should they put that porfession in at the last min like this just how many of the features would you expect to work?

They have no legal liability because of one thing:

"Gameplay experience may change during online play". (or words to that effect) Not only is it written on the box of every copy of this game ever sold, but you accept those and many other terms of service each time you log in.

They will never be forced to do anything out of fear of legal reprisals, aside from code changes that in some way jeapordize player privacy/security/account information. Changes to the game itself and how it plays, would not seem to me to be in any way something one could take legal action over.

They've made far worse gameplay changes, so I don't see why this would make them blink.

Well the gameplay is not the focus of all the lawsuit talks. The advertizing of the Taming necklace is. That activity is NOT protected by the EULA. If several months had passed and some CH got the necklace then the EULA protections would be in force.

That is where SOE made its mistake. They should have never said anything about the CH quest part to the new expansion knowing that within days after its release they where going to take out CH. That was a selling part to many hard core CH. When you advertise a feature of a product and not let your customers know that feature will be removed withing days is deception. SOE can avert this mistake if they announce the return CH/BE. It may take 30 to 90 days to write the code but they can protect themselves while they got a chance.

I wasn't aware it was advertised (I ignored all the TooW pre-hype crap). Was the CH necklace promised somewhere in an official capacity? Or was it, like so many things, announced on the forums then mysteriously "disappeared"?

It was in the Relics of Mustafar or whatever web section it was called, plus it was in the FAQ for ToOW that there would be tamable pets and I saw nothing less that 70 when I went to Mustafar the first day of prerelease.

Probably this would not save them at this point either as most of the CH bought the expantion for what was about to be in there. We (many-most CH) would have waited till they brought it back before buying the expantion. The plan to remove CH remains a material fact that the seller knowingly withheld from the buyer(s)

People keep saying this and keep missing that it is stated as part of the "teen" rating, no as anything else...

Actually if anyone would bother to read the current EULA, here is the section in dispute, under Section 2:

You understand that online games evolve over time and, accordingly, system requirements to play the Game may change over time.

But in the same section is:

Neither this Agreement nor your Account entitles you to any subsequent releases of the Game and/or the Software, any expansion packs nor similar ancillary products. You understand that we may update or otherwise enhance the Game and/or the Software at any time and in doing so incur no obligation to furnish such updates to you pursuant to this Agreement.

So please, SOE by all means do not provide me this enhancement
