Thread: One CH's Reflections on the NGE

It's been a week now of Creature Handlers across the galaxies pleading, threatening, and relating the good times of the profession. The heartbreak that we all feel cannot be described... I doubt that there are any folks in SWG that get as attached to their pets as we do. And, in this immense outpouring of grief, of anger, of betrayal, there's a question I have to ask:

Have we seen even one shred of proof that the devs, SOE, and LA care?

No. Not a single red name in these forums... not even the common courtesy and human decency of an apology. They're murdering a profession and forcing US, the victims, to be the perpetrators that commit our pets to nothingness. They're breaking the hearts of hundreds of people - everyone who's ever posted a story, a bit of advice, or a complaint on this forum - and none of them even have the guts or compassion to say, "We're sorry for your loss."

It breaks my heart - but it doesn't surprise me at all. I'm past the betrayal now, I'm past the heartbreak and the anger... and I'm just numb. That's the worst part of this whole business - it's coming, and even our collective voices raised in outcry can't stop it. I'm going to spend the time I have left with my pets... maybe finally grind through the Management tree to get mount training. When the NGE comes down on us, I'll cling to my Pack Master title with the same pride that all of the MCHs out there will wear theirs, sitting atop the rogue bageraset that I spent hours working up to full size.

None of that, though, helps ease the little dead spot in my heart where Creature Handler used to be.

Excellent post which sums up what we all feel. Those who develop and create these games seem to have little understanding of the involvement players invest in the world that they have created. All credit to them for a good job done if they can immerse us so fully.

But really - what can they say? If they come on here to speak to us, we would do what is natural and go into attack mode as anger is one of the results of grieving. And grief is what is felt when a part of our life is lost for ever.

I have played this game for over 2 years now and it has been a wonderful experience despite bugs never ever fixed from beta, and some very upsetting times due to the CU. Now the FU2 (further upgrade 2 for those wondering) has come along and is looking to be just the thing to kill off any desire I have to play SWG. But I will need something to replace my stress buster after a hard day at work and you can bet it won't have a SOE tag to it. I know when I have been conned.

Who would have thought I could have gotten a laugh out of the current doom and gloom in the CH forum but OddWan, you did it
