Thread: How do you store pets in a droid data pad?

I saw someone who had kept some pets he tamed in the datapad storage of his droid and was giving away at the time. I tried to put some of mine in my droid and it won't take. I tried moving them from my datapad to the droids datapad by dragging the icons over and even tried dropping them on the droid itself. Nothing would work so far. So how is it some people are running around with pets they tamed in thier droids data pad. Can someone tell me how exactly all that works and if you can store pets there in order to tame more? Thanks in advance.

It used to be possible to store pets in a droid with a data storage module. This wasn't intended functionality, though, so it was removed.

When the change was made (quite some time ago now), any existing pets inside droids were left there. If they're removed, however, they cannot be put back in.

Several Months Back, I bought a data-storage droid for just that purpose, but then I discovered it didn't work as well. I read a post somewhere that creature data could no longer be stored, but I thought I'd try, anyway. As it is, I cannot store data of any kind in my droid. Schematics, Waypoints, Missions, etc. What exactly 'can' I store in a Data Storage Droid? Or are they just Borked altogether now?

Are you sure it is Data storage and not regular storage? I have a Data storage module in a droid and it works fine for schematics and waypoints. It looks the same as the regular storage module in the same droid. The regular storage module holds 10 items, just like a backpack. On more than one occasion, I tried to store data in the storage module and items in the data module. lol

I can't even store waypoints in mine. About the only thing it does hold is schemactic's which I don't use alot of. So out of being able to store 150 thing in this monduel I can only store 3 schematic's I had so far which make that aspect of my droid about turd worthless. Personally I think you should be able to store all data in a droids data pad except another droid with a datapad full of stuff. Like pets, speeders, waypoints, schematics, and such. Mainly cause like me I am sure when alot of people hear data pad they are thinking like me you can store all the same items from one to another and the droid can lighten your load and enable to you for example collect more without haveing to give something up. I don't think all the DE's are aware of this change either cause some that I asked on it still thought ya could. Anyway just my opinion on it. Thanks for the information bud. Atleast now I can stop occasionally trying to mess with it. I am just glad I mainly had him designed for harvesting.

The ONLY data you can store in a droid datapad is a player-created crafting schematic.

That is it.

Creatures stored in droid datapads was nerfed back in August, although some of us oldtimers (raises hand) still have critters that were stored back then on a droid datapad. Prior to that, it was possible to store missions in droid datapads, but those droid modules were nerfed as well. Some prenerf, still capable of storing mission droids are out there, but understandably they command very high prices if they're even for sale.

The capability to store creatures in droid datapads was nerfed across the board. Those creatures stored in droids are sitting there unharmed, but once they're removed, the can never be moved back into the droids, and no new creatures can be stored in them.

That's why I said that aspect of a droid is pretty much turd worthless. I mean when I was crafting I made my schematics as I needed them. Even though I didn't go far into the crafting scene I just don't see the point in storing schemtics only. That's one nerf they cantakeback to the person where it came from and apologize for taking it in the first place.

Well, I asked the same question at the time, and the silence was deafening.

It's why DEs were one of the most underloved professions out there for months, and why the "Droid Invasion" had to come about. Droids served very little useful purpose in the game for a long time.

Yeah, it's a 'Data' storage droid alright, but still will not let me store anything of any kind in it.

No biggy. Wasn't like I spent ton of creds on the piece of crap or anything.

I just needed to know for sure that it is of entirely no use. Now I can destroy it and make room for something that 'is' useful, like a creature sighting wp. 8-)

I'd give it or sell it to a die hard crafter who like to hold alot of schematics on hand. Atleast they may have some use for it since no one else does.
