Don't usually post an awful lot because I have very little to complain about, but this is getting annoying.

I caught a mountain squill baby last night and proceeded to tame it. I did the 'follow' command first, the text popped up that 'You have taught your pet a new command', but no CH XP points. I had to train it 5 times in order for it to stick and to get the XP.

I also noticed that when I taught my pet the 'attack' command, it in fact taught it the 'follow' command instead. I had to retrain my pet again. This happened on 2 other commands.

Common bug? Or could it be lag?

I've sent a bug report in.

I did a bit of playing and found that when I train 'Stay' it trains the pet but not in the 'Stay' command, it goes to another random command! This is not lag, this is a definite bug. This happens with most of the commands. For example:

I trained Attack and it set the word I used to Trick 1

I trained Stay it set the word I used to attack

I have to retrain my pet at least 5 times in order for the command to be correct. Extremely frustrating. I'm not making mistakes, maybe once or twice but not everytime.

Ive always been told that the maximum number of times it is supposed to take to train a command is four.Plus if the commands are going to the wrong place, it definitely sounds like a bug to me. I hope it gets resolved for you soon.

Replying to Tex's post above me, My Graul Maulers took 8 times before they learned a command. I have also been having this issue, where it would train stay as follow, I made no mistake. I contacted CSRs, and they told me there is nothing they can do, but recommend it and POSSIBLY get it fixed.

I was just passing along what I was told after making a similar complaint way back when I did CH the first time nearly a year ago. I thought it was taking forever to train commands and was told I was probably just imagining things. I was then told about the four time rule. I hadnt really thought about it until now,but I am pretty sure some of my current pets took more than four attempts to train skills. I'll have to test this out at some point just to see.

Definitely sounds like something flakey is going on... let's look at adding this to the Issue/Request list. If you do discover any more information (like a reliable way of allowing others to reproduce it), please let me know.

I got a Rasp from Talus last night for one of my guild mates (she's a musician and it flies next to her as she plays).

I trained it in Stay (with the word 'stay') first of all, it came up with 'You have taught your pet a new command' but no XP. I opened the datapad and check to see if the command had stuck. It had in fact stuck the word 'stay' next to attack. I kept the datapad open.

I retrained it in 'Stay' with the word stay and this time I got the XP. I then trained it in Befriend with the tag 'bf'. Again 'You have taught your pet a new command' pops up, but no CH XP. I check the datapad and the pet's commands and it's stuck bf next to guard, not befriend.

I spent the better part of 10 minutes training and retraining my pet over and over until all the commands were in the right order. I have aBantha which I will train later. I will post a screenshot of all the messed up commands.

Well it's repeatable.

Here's the commands I use to train my pets.

Follow Me - fm

Follow Target - ft

Guard - guard

Attack - attack

Stay - stay

Group - group

Befriend - bf

Trick 1 - t1

Store - 3

Here's how it turned out after I trained the pet without going back to rectify mistakes
