I would say try to hunt creatures/NPC's at least3x your pet lvl.

Remember when you start out YOU need to tank for your pets. You should attack whatever you're hunting first then when the HAM bars are around 1/3 then send in the pet. Whatever you are fighting should remain aggo'ed on you and you should get some good XP. Another good way is to fly around the starter planets and do a "catch and release".

Right now I'm using my kaadu mount (lvl 10) against creatures in the high 30's and getting in the upper 300's for XP. There a formula here somwhere but I haven't figured it out yet.

I sincerely hope someone else posts here because right now I'm only 3313 and even though I'm a returning MCH things have changed. The last time I mastered CH you could still get full XPwith 2 pets called at the some time.

So any tips from current masters on good ways to get XP would be appreciated.

I have Mastered CH on three characters. The fastest way to get XP, currently, is to do the Geo Cave on Yavin. I have never used this method. Another good method, if you can find a large non-solo group or have an elite combat profession, is doing Enraged Rancors on Dath.

I do most of my leveling on Dant. There is not a firm ratio between pet CL and MOB CL. It seems to vary from planet to planet. On Dant I got the most XP per kill using a CL 15 pet. I did Voritors, Pickets, and Quenkers missions. You pet only has to get in one hit to get the full XP. I am TKM so I would wait until the MOB was almost dead and send in the pet. I do not group with my low level pet for two reasons. First it will lower my mission level. Second, I find that social MOBS will leave the pet alone if he is not grouped. When grouped they always go after it and a CL 15 pet does not last long against a Voritor Hunter.

You should be aware that CH is the hardest and slowest profession to master other than FS/Jedi. On my MCH/MTK that I built from scratch I mastered TK before I got 2222 CH. That was concentrating on getting CH XP and not TK XP.

Find a large non-solo group? lol, do they even exist anymore? Sorry, that doesn't belong on this board (happy thoughts...happy thoughts)

Best thing to know? Always mask scent when trying to tame. Last thing you need is for your babies parents to start taking chunks out of your...

I don't like to grind away at a prof so I can master it in a couple of days, so I don't really know of any good ways to lvl. If you have an elite combat prof, I would suggest hunting the hardest mobs you can and try to take all the hits instead of letting your pet take them. Remember, your pet only has to hit once to get the xp (but you don't get any for the lair).

Oh and I find it helps to tame every baby you can. You might not want to keep that kreetle baby you found, but tame it, train it and then release it. Easy xp

I'm relatively new to CH, only 2214 right now. I started doing serious leveling on dant with savage quenkers and huurton stalkers, getting about 280-350 xp per kill using my cl18 kliknik. I started getting sick of seeing dant all the time so i decided to take a trip to dathomir and it was the best move i could have made. If you get into a solo group you can pull nocuous kamurith or kamurith snapper missions(not the defilers, that disease is nasty)and with the same kliknik i'm getting 720-780 xp and they're about as easy to kill as a savage quenker, plus you get 17k credits to go with each lair

If you do go to dathomir, be sure to wear a good set of ubese or kinetic comp, those kamuriths hit pretty hard!

as soon as you can tame a level 20 pet (and have the bio clothing for atleast +10 to taming vicious creatures... unless your a wookiee) get a desert squill from tatooine. these are pretty durable pets and can rack up some nice xp from higher level mobs.

using my desert squill i was getting 600ch xp from picket longhorns (dantooine, 14k missions) and 950ch xp from voritor hunters (dantooine, 26k mission?). also, you can get 1400ch xp fromenraged rancors as well if you decide to go that route using this pet. some pets might get more xp but it can take a few hits from almost anything and since you only need to get one hit for the full ch xp i think it's a great grinding pet.

also, large non-solo groups still happen. not as often as before but you can find them if you ask around

P.S.

one helpful tip i forgot. if your pet gets poisened or diseased store it in your datapad for a few seconds then call it back out, the disease/poisen will be gone. very useful for fighting certain mobs. also works for bleeds i think but i haven't tested that since i'm a medic also.

good luck!

didnt read everything here so excuse me if i repeat whats already been said

when you can try a lvl 15 cowardly gurreck, the when u get to lvl 25 get a boar wolf from endor its got gr8 stats and as mch i use them often they rock and are small so in caves you can still see lol

if you have the money usually 12k-25k buy a Bio enhanced clothing with +25 tame wild/visc creatures. it wont increase your max lvl but will increase your chances of sucesfully taming something and maybe +25 mask scent clothing while your at it lol

keep a taming slot empty in ur datapad at all times try a place like tat or naboo and run around taming everything in site, teach them all you can and sometimes send the baby to kill anything around you while you heal and protect it. then release it and repeat. its a good way to climb the first few skill boxes and will help you get familiar with ch.

good luck
