Try finding a Cu Pa on Tatooine, which is a strong start pet, then just kill gnorts or chuba's a lot.

look at the tree on the skill sheet in game. The commands are scattered all over it. There are also bonuses in each branch. Pick which skills/commands are most important to you and go for those first.
Taming has all the special commands and pluses to taming vicious critters.
Training has all the added stored pets.
Empathy has the tricks and pet buffs.
Management has the additional pet (at 3) and the mount command (at 4)

Ok sorry for the delay. 1st off you gain the ability to tame creatures at the Novice CH level. Normal non-ch chararcters can control (if it was previously tamed) all level 10 (difficulty level) pets. At Novice your difficulty level is bumped up to level 12. with each box of ch skill this is increased by 2. So when you are a ch of 1.1.1.1 you will be able to control a level 20 (difficulty level) pet. the difficulty level of an animal is seen by only Master scouts or Rangers....a good resource is www.swgcreatures.com . the level 20 pet at 1.1.1.1 is derived from the begining level of level 10 + novice box (+2) and 4 skill boxes (+2 per box) = 20.
With that being said i believe ANY creature that is considered VISCIOUS will be denied to you (unless you have BE engineered clothing with the "tame viscious creatures + X " trait ) until atleast a ch of 2.0.0.0 skill box. also1 tree of the skill box increases the AMMOUNT of pets that can be stored....Hope this helps...if you need assitstance contact a Local CH by going cntrl-P then selecting novice CH as a title and do a search....this will search the portion of the planet u are on for anyone with that skill. Good luck and Good hunting!

This is somewhat right, they can control all NON agressive level 10 pets. Meaning that the adults don't show red on the radar.

Again, somewhat right.
for ever level 1 and level 2 box, it's +2 to creature level
for ever level 3 box it's a +3 to creature level
for ever level 4 box it's a +5 to creature level
and at master you get a +10
