Hi folks. Like many players who took advantage of the Respec I decided I'd always wanted to be a Creature Handler. I only had enough point however to gain novice.

I'm currently printing all the CH guides from the stickies. But I'm sure there have been post CU changes that really change the profession.

I bought a level 8 pet and tried attacking minor worts outside Mos Eisley, they incapacitated my pet in one hit literally. It seems the only XP I could gain is from training my pet. I don't have the hang of things yet and I'm sure these types of questions have been rampant on your board (as they are on all boards with the respec) But I was wondering if anyone can give me tips on the best way to get thru novice since the nuclear fallout we call a CU.

Also was wondering if there are any types of ways to gain afk XP. Unfortunately I won't be around much this double XP week because of real life and I'd hope to gain a little experience to further my template. Truly any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance.

Vert wasn't on very much, So there isn't a general CU guide for CH. Not that he could of written one anyway, as you and many others have pointed out, the CL system when comparing relative pet power is heavily in favor of wild creatures to the point where testing out a tried and true way of mastering the whole profession would take a great deal of time. Also, the broken XP caps mean no one can go past teir 1 without learning several skills and respeccing again to use those skills to proceed up the tree. With the CL system destroying pets left and right, and BE crafting currently having its DNA hopelessly skewed, there is also no way at all to AFK macro CH.

It could be a very, very long time before you find a way to master CH. The tame and train BE pets thing probably won't help either as BE can barely craft pets as it is, and taming and training babies is extremely slow.

Thanks very much for your fast and informative response. Wow it seems kind of bleak

I guess my name spells out my frustration. It seems to haver touched every profession from my Smuggler, to my Weaponsmith even to the CH in a negative way.

ok heres a monkey for the mix...

i have respeced my char an picked up ch but i got stuck at 20k xp so i respeced again an got a rank highter so now im 0100 in ch and im still stuck at 20k xp.

this is realy anoying me.

also a lil off subject but even if me and my pet attack a lvl 21 creature (im lvl 19) i still cant kill him. usein all my special abilities an everything i die in like 10 hits an my pet dies in 2.

ok back on subject.. taming creatures blows supposadly im suppose ti tame a certian lvl and it says i cant tame ne thing above lvl 5 im so fed up with this ive been only working on my pilot skilz because it seems the cu hasnt touched space that bad. most everyting is still the same. besides all the unsightly lag that is prominent thruoout the game now

im also bio and the creature making sux.

Was teh mob red or yellow? if it was Red you would not be able to tame since I'm pretty sure at 0-0-1-0-0 you do not have any + to taming viscious yet. If the creature was a non-agro mob then it is possible it might be a bug. If you haven't tried it yet, put on some CH clothes and try.

thanks for the reply ive now gotten to mch/mch/nov sl through respecting and am no longer stuch but i am haveing problems like most others in not being able to use some pets.

see my rant in uncontrolable pets and untamable creatures.

There are a ton of bugs, no one knows when fixes are coming, I feel for ya, I really do.

The tame bugs, somepeople have better luck using /tame command. doesn't always work either but reports are it comes and goes. sorry its all I got.

Calling pets, if its a bio-pet and aggressive or grown to a lvl you cant control yet you may need more skills in the 1st and2nd columns. First column is for agressive pets (red on radar)

Coomands, buggy as the rest of the game, sending pets to fight and calling them back works once, if you send a pet in to attack then use follow command to call him back, you wont be able to get the pet to do much after that untill the target is killed. The commands kind of stick now.

If you have a bio-pet and are asked to convert it when you call it general rule is, if it has armor go stat change if it doesnt have armor and under lvl 35 you can go level change.

Pets/Creatures also have been "cough" balanced recently so pets certain rancors jumped up to an uncallable level for master ch's, our max pet level is 70.

Go to your skill tress ctrl +S, left side 3rd box down I believe scroll till you see max level of pet, thats your current pet level you can call (example- max lvl of pet +14 = a pet cl of 14)
