How does one release a pet? Is it possible or do you just have to destroy it? Once you release it can you re-tame it or does it become untamable?

as far as i know there was a time (way before my CH time)when releasing a pet actually meant releasing it into the wild. so it would become a wild creature again and u could see it run away. this was the perfect way for the real creature handlers by heart to release a pet.
but somefolks must have used this to release their rancors in the middle of cantinas, so it got taken away.

ROFLMAO!!! They should still show the creature running away but have it go so far and disapear.. NOT kill the canteena.. tho now i HAVE to see that. Releasing a ranc on a helpless canteena would be funny as heck. I would love to do it on an imp outpost. just release a dozen of em on a NPC imp base. (evil laughter)

Doubtless this must have been the case, especially back in the early stages of the game when CH was the flavor-of-the-month and people could tame any level of pet. Any number of griefing techniques come to mind with this. But it would be a nice touch to have this be something like a white-dot object that joyously runs off and over the hill before finally despawning....

Are you totally deranged? Or a respec MCH?
You dont' 'release" pets..you destroy them or keep them...that's it. Destroy is "releasing them back into the wild"=means destroy

I was a Creature Handler back about 2 weeks after the game's release, and I don't remember any time when you could release a pet and actually see the pet released. It was either in Beta, or it never happened.

Technically, what we're "destroying" is the datapad control device, while "releas(ing) the pet back into the wild."
