I don't think any pets have any resistances listed, so you can't tell whether you've got a single or double resist or not. You could always check SWGCreatures.com for pre-CU info, but there's no guarantee any of that is applicable now.

As for which creatures to use at CL30, I'm CL30 and I just went out and got a Crimson Razor Cat, which used to be 29 but is now 24. I'm curious too which creatures are good for this level?

(You did mean the creature had a CL of 30, right? And not your CL?)

Good pets from before the CU were all the subspecies of Vesp from Lok. Last time I traversed the planet (early May), it looked like they hadn't been changed in level. I kinda considered them a good midlevel benchmark of skill: tough, some excellent resistances (before the CU, at least), powerful specials (/sob for the missing specials...), a level of rarity that was just enough to make them a bit difficult to find without being too frustrating for an up-and-coming field biologist, and a generally cool appearance. And they tended to spawn in mixed-subspecies groups, so their combined specials made their lairs a truly dangerous place. They range(d) from Level 24 (Mountain Vesp) to Level 30 (Desert Vesp), but all are/were great pets.

Mantigrue Night Stalkers, at level-28,are (were?) another good pet around this level. I had one in my datapad when I was doing my Investigations grind for Bounty Hunter, and with this pet I came up with the tactic of sending in a flyer to kill a swimming mark. In fact, "Shadow" racked up the kill that got me to Master BH all by himself! I now have a Mantigrue Hunter that didn't change level after the CU -- he's still level-38, and if memory serves from my last trip to Endor, Night Stalkers are still level-28.

I heard a lot of comments about Skreeg Warrior Elites, but never got around to trying to tame them. My datapad was too constricted for the duration of my pre-CU career. Similarly, a pet that I really wanted so badly I could practically taste it was a Swamp Stalker. That level-30 feline looks very similar to the cat that was my first really good tame: a Female Plains Tusk Cat named "ProblemChild" --level 16, 3900 HAM, blazing fast, and utterly fearless. (Sorry, I just had topause and reminisce about her...)But swampies were hard to find.

At CL-31, you can still look forward to taming Merek Assassins. Again, I am assuming their levels weren't tweaked this week.

Other pets to look into are:

  • Crimson Razor Cats (Corellia, pre-CU level 29)

  • Dragonets (Tat, pre-CU level 29)

  • Huurtons (Dantooine. A doglike creature.I believe their varieties now range around level-30 and slightly higher)

  • Mountain Squills

... and too many more for me to sort through as yet.

Basically, it now looks like the devs are gearing the random spawns on the planets towards a certain range of levels for players. Tat, Naboo, and Talus, from what I've seen, tend to hover around lower-level random spawns, while Lok and Dantooine look like they're geared towards midlevel players. Lok seems to hover around level-30 or so (not counting the occasional Kimogila), while the "sweet spot" for level on Dantooine is around level-40ish (again, leaving out the occasional HIGH-level Force Wielder -- especially Dark Jedi Masters). Dathomir is an elite-level playground now, with most random spawns at least level-65. Tameables from these planets will, of course, tend to reflect this overall trend.

Well, that ought to get you started. I'd say go to Lok or Dantooine and just start wandering around. See for yourself what is out there. Most of the critters in the wild now are tameable, and on that front it's a whole new world!

Enjoy yourself, and happy hunting!
