Thread: Multiple Faction pets

Squad leader needs the ability to have many faction pets. Atleast 3 as a CH can have. This would make so much sense. As of now most of the bonuses they give a group are terrible but if you give this ability to them, it would make them so much more important. I would hope to see them be able to do alot of stuff at HQs such as organize the patrol squads. These patrols are very weak because they do not help each other, so they get completely destroyed by anyone of decent fighting ability. Also I think this Profession should have something to do with large scale dog fights in the upcoming expansion.

Speaking for the "Community Veteran" & Elder Squad Leaders, We lead Players not Pets.

We want nothing to do with NPC control.

Hmmm...
Do Cummunity Veterans and Elder Squad Leaders pay more a month than the rest of us?

Bottom line is the community is split on this one. Only time will tell wich way it goes and the last say is SOE.

Please dont speak for me either...

Don'tpresume tospeak for me unless you are sure I agree. I think there is certainly merit to the discussion of extended or enhanced NPC control for the Squad Leader profession. While it should not be our primary focus,it should be an option. I get tired of seeing this idea shot down every time it's brought up here. It happens with enough frequency that it should by now be obvious that theplayer community is not united behind you to the point of exclusion. I'd like to see this idea fleshed out without being pre-emptively nuked by someone who claiming to be thespokesman for my entire profession.

I think enhanced NPC control could be a nice benefit for SL. I mean yes a private SL commanding three troops while a Colonel could only contol 1 sounds weird... a private squad leader in general sounds weird, but sounds even more weird when they might be leading a Colonel.

The way I see it, why should a Privte who is a MSL be able to control 3 pets, while a Colonel can only control one? It makes no sense. NPC should have to deal with faction not skills. If you bring Neutrals into this, realize that Neutrals cant controls NPCs (Other then pets and droids). NPCs are faction related and should stay into that fact. WHen you take NPC control away from faction abilities, it defeats the purpose.

Mabey if a SL could control more people (As in squads more then 20 people) I can see that. But Faction NPCs should have nothing to do with your skills.

I agree with yeraze. NPC handling is just a waste of skill boxes that waters down our ability to lead players, which is the focus of this profession. And while you might be offended yeraze spoke for you, many of the "Squad leader community veterans and elders" (as opposed to those with the tags for the SWG boards in general) do seem to side against NPC handling. If you read through our entire SL In concept thread, it certainly seems that way. Most of the names I recognize from the SL boards on that thread are anti-handlers.

Just because you dont recognise a name doesnt mean they dont have the experience & credentials to know what they're talking about.

I think the community is split pretty much evenly here, so we need to findthird way. We need to find a compromise that gives a SL greater ability to handle npcs without watering down the proffesion's other abilities. Just adding the ability to handle more npcs is far too simplistic & should be linked to rank, but there needs to be a way we can be effective commanding a player group and an npc group without weakening our abilities in either field.

well if you petitioned for it in the GCW revamp to be tied entirely to rank, then there you go. SLs would be more effective with them because our various specials and what have you would still work on those NPCs, while non SL players would not be able to use them on NPCs.

Bam, theres your compromise. It still allows yout o have your faction pets, but it doesnt take up any of our skill points.

Funny, this is what weve been saying from the begining.

There is a danger to this. Smugglers have skills that help them to change sides in the GCW, and other skills that only have benifit is they are a Colonel in the GCW. Neither of these skills benifit an independent smuggler. Be careful if you try to tie your skill boxes to GCW rank.

And I think the mulitple NPC could be a good idea. It would make a SL seems more Squad Leader-ish.

The developers are going to be very careful in giving out new/better group level perks/buffs. Any group level benifit becomes exponentialy more effective as the group size grows. Wheres, multiple NPC control will only have a benifit for smaller groups and become less effective as the group size grows. It would actually help to ballance the profession much more than may first be apparent.

This is perhaps the most fair, balanced and well-reasoned comment I haveyet seen on this topic.
