Thread: The Varactyl Egg ... a question

I have completed the quest, andI have the egg sitting in my inventory.
Now, the logical thing to do, the thing I'd like to do, is hatch the egg and let the varactyl start to grow.
BUT ...
I am "worried" by a couple of posts I have read here, with people talking about "keeping the egg safely hidden away in the bank", or "is it safe to do this or that ...?".
SO ... before I do anything I will regret, can someone please tell me what all this is about ? Are there reasons why I should wait before hatching the egg ?

some people just like to put the egg as decoration.
its a rare item - more rare then the varactyl. so with all the collectors out there paying millions on rare stuff, a varactyl egg (which anyone can put on display) might be more valuable then a varactyl, which can only be used by master ch. and as some master ch already have the cl10 varactyl (digital download reward) they might think of keeping or selling the egg.
thou i prefer to use my cl65 varactyl - its a great pet.

I have been trying to do this quest for almost a week now, and either I'm talking to the wrong person or doing something wrong. Or i could just be bugged, as i noticed that has happend a lot recently in regards to all my CH abilities. Anyway, who do you talk to to begin this quest? I have talked to the man in the rodian camp (beside a varactyyl) and he always says what a great day it is and how mych he enjoys being away from Hoth. I am a MCH, and have even been to the nest and killed them all before, but have never been given the chance to grab an egg. So, in case I was told wrong-- Who do I talk to to begin this quest? what all must I do before I can start the quest? One of the main reasons i became MCH was to get this varactyyl, and now it seems I can't. So any help you guys could give me is most appreciated! Thanx

I believe that at one point at least, if you put the egg in your house a random passer-by coul hatch it and it would end up in thier datapad.

you have to have the downloaded version of the ROTW... not the cd version. This may be part of your problem, if not then you're bugged.

I doubt it, if that's how it works. A guildmate of mine just informed me that people could to something similar to the Focusing Crystals players receive as a reward for a couple of the village quests. If players ventured into another player's house and saw one of the focusing crystals out on display, they could use it and grab it's buff!

As of Sat night, no. My main character (the MCH) got the egg and my minor character (the MDE) was decorating the house and got the "tame" option on the radial menu.

No ... do not put the egg on display ... any player that can see theegg can click and get the radial menu and can hatch the egg. When they do this the Varactyl goes into their datapad ... this is a bug that as of yet has not been fixed
