1) After finally getting to CH, and working up a little of the skill tree, finally went out and snagged a baby bol. Nothing exciting ( I know ), but a real tame, as opposed to my previously-used L10 Veractyl from RotW. Weirdly enough, I could train it and teach it to follow, but attack always just gave me a red&blue exclamation mark above its head, and no action performed.

So, after being able to use a L19 Humpaba (?), I switched to it from the Veractyl, and was able to train it and use it, no problem. So, I decided the problem wasn't me, was something about the bol being a baby or something.

At L38, I then switched to a L38 bol ( different one ), and it had the same problem as the baby. Follows, groups, blah blah blah, but no attack. Discouraged, I bought a L25 Grauler, and it seemed perfectly happy to obey my request.

To cap it off, a friendly MCH caught and gave me a freshly-caught baby Narg. I trained it, and the first few times I told it to attack it behaved the same way as the bol ( *grumble grumble* ). However, it suddenly obeyed my command on a whim against a L2 critter, and ever since then has been perfectly compliant.

So what's up with that? I did some reading here, but haven't found any description of the symptoms or the solution.

2) The FAQs are getting rather... confusing... for newbie CHs such as myself. A lot of outdated information that may or may not be true, blah blah blah. Is there a better source of information, or would a new post-20 FAQ and links guide be a good thing for me to start working on as I build my CH and learn the ropes?

Try telling your pets to follow the target, then when close, to attack. I've found my pets without ranged attacks tend to hunker down. They will get in combat, but not attack unless the target is next to them, and won't close to engage.

Another solution is to look for a few pets with ranged attack. They don't give me anywhere near the headaches my melee pets do.

The FAQs are not outdated. They simply havent been updated in awhile because we havnt really seen much dev love lately.
