CH was my first profession, and after all this time, I've been loathe to give it up. I gave the pub22 upgrade a chance, and after leveling the majority of my pets to full maturity and training them, I find that the abilities give miniscule benefits in exchange for the effort (and some people on these forums have done the math and listed the numbers.) And these seemingly miniscule benefits do not make up for a pet's lack of compensation in a fight, even though Embolden is pretty nice now. None of my pets (one of which is a CL33 with 9k Health, a pre-CU pet.) make up for my having sacrificed one whole profession. While the attack speed on some of my better pets is quick and helps greatly, it's not nearly enough to make up for the profession's lack in other departments. So I've inexorably come to this decision.
As such, I had some questions, and would greatly appreciate answers or any kind of constructive feedback/advice.
1) If I /respec and abandon MCH, will I lose all of the pet abilities I grinded for and learned, or (should the day come that I choose to return) will they always be stored/saved/attached to my character in some manner? As in, is that a permanent loss?
2) Secondly, does anyone know if /respec'ing out of a profession forces you to lose all the XP in that profession? I'm considering banking 1.2mil CH XP, as a precaution. I'm fairly certain I want to do this, as difficult as it is since I love the potential of the profession, but pub22 wasn't what I wanted it to be and I'm tired of taking what scraps the devs hand out.

I would assume that you'd still keep the skills you've learned but thats just a guess.
I tried this during the post CU respec period:
You will lose most of the XP you've banked UNLESS you keep the novice CH box. If you keep the novice box, you can still have 1.2 million XP 'banked' for later use.
If you untrain CH completely, even though you'll have all that XP saved, its going to take away most of the XP and leave you with 350,000 XP when you train the novice box (the most XP you can earn at novice CH).

Don't know the answer to question 1. The answer to question 2 is yes, you get to keep the xp already banked, so store it up if you are ever considering coming back.
Hope this helps.

I too was worried about losing the abilities. But I can confirm that going back to ch again you will have retained the abilities. When you drop ch it will give you the message "you lack the skill" or something like that and you can't view what you had. But you will still have what you learned when you train novice CH again.

You can bank xp. I'd recommend getting capped out before you drop CH. One important thing to keep in mind is that if you do anything that results in you gaining any sort of xp, the game will check your *current* cap, and drop you down to it if you are over. So, if you have a tier 4 box in CH, your CH xp cap is as large as possible but if you were to drop CH and then retrain novice, you would want to make sure that you spend all your banked xp *first thing* after you train the novice box, before doing anything that would result in you gaining CH xp.
