Thread: Tales from the Past: Stories from SWG's Creature Handlers
Yeah, gotta agree with you on those high times.....from 5 lvl 65+ tames last night on Mustafar, 4 of them had L3 innates : Aggression (x2) / Self Sacrifice / Fleet Footed
Some of the funniest times I have had taming have been walking around Dath as a cl56 (was still levelling rifles at the time) and keeping my MCM alt in the closest starport for those moments when I got triple incapped or just plain DB'd by a cure little critter I wanted to tame, or its possesive parent.
It was a quiet morning... not cold, but cool, from that morning feel. It even smelled like morning, if that's possible.
I had just gotten to Endor, and boy was i glad that trip was over. 26 hour hyperspace jumps are never fun.
When i stepped out of the transport shuttle, I was greeted by the lush landscape- towering evergrees, grassy meadows, babbling brooks full of aquatic animals of all kinds. This was the perfect place to study and tame animals for research. I figured that if I did the research mysef, then the Imperial scientists wouldn't have to use their abusive experiments on the poor creatures.
Anyways, after agood night'srest I woke up early again the next day. I set out into the forest searching for one of the rarest creatures known in the galaxy, the arachne. These fearsome spiderlike arachnids are known for their aggression, so i brought along my trusty pet slice hound, (Summer).

Being new to this planet,I knew I would need to be as careful as possible not to have my presence there noticed any more than was absolutely necessary. I applied my scent masking treatments like I was taught to , I loaded my backpack with some meds, some food for (Summer) and some extra clothing with calming enhancements just in case I met with some aggressive fauna that may have been sharing our path.
My loyal pet lead the way and I tried to follow as closely as possible over the heavily wooded terrain. We meandered through the landscape in search of potential Arachne lairs but I knew it could take a long time.
Suddenly, there was a thunderous noise from up ahead in what seemed to be a clearing, my slice hound stood defensively between me and the clearing....I strained against the sunlight coming through the tree canopy to see what was responsible for that terrifying sound and then I caught a glimpse of something, something large, something that seemed to be all to aware that we had invaded its home. It stared down at us through the tree tops and at that moment I knew this could be the end of our adventure, for peering down at us from a great height was the fearsome and reclusive......

Gorax, a creature known for its great strength and greater annimosity to creatures disturbing its rest! Summer immediately began growling and snarling putting on a display to confuse the great beast and distract it from me… I however was not defenceless and raised my trusty Rifle and aimed for the creatures maw stocked with terrible teeth. Summer bounded up to the Gorax and began attacking the creature’s legs in an attempt to topple the towering figure. Suddenly the creature howled and dropped to the ground Summer had severed its hamstring… I fired having aimed I hit it between the eyes inflicting a brutal blow! But as I was soon to realise the Gorax does not stay down for long… (Please continue)

I remember one day after spending many, many, many weeks searching for what to me would be the perfect pet (GSP) I was about to give up. The frustration level had almost gotten the best of me.
I set up a camp to just sit there and watch the plains while the sun was setting and would you believe it a yellow dot appeared on my radar. I quickly put on my taming clothes, stored my trusty Crimsons Hateful and Nasty and low crawled up to the baby. Two tries later and he was mine. I don't use him in combat but he is my ever present companion. I'll delete my Wook before I'll delete my companions.

i was in a guild called FUN at the time, it was a samll group, just 5 or 6 of us, we went to Talus to find some Greater Sludge panthers. there were two CHs in the group, me and one other.
we went through many lairs until we found one, the other CH took that one sinmce he had to go soon, but then not long after we found another, a few tries and i had it! i was soo happy i almost cried, lol
I was out hunting baby bull rancors as per the usual with me for the last few months, and guild chat was slow with only me and one other guy online at the time. As I said, I was hunting baby bulls and my buddy was in space hunting the Black Sun Helmet. We exchanged witty banter about just whats going on and stuff when he suddenly was like "f'ing sweet!!". I was like, did you get the helmet?" He said no, it was just some really sweet ship parts he looted. Then he told me that I'd know if he got the helmet. To that, I replied, "You'll know when I find a baby bull."
It was these kind of stories that really got me into CH! I remember back when I was still xping for creature handler, I updated myself with every creature I could tame with the next box from swgcreatures. I always wanted a greater sludge panther and then, when I could finally tame CL 23s I set out to find one on Talus... I made my guildy (was a member of Scarlet Entity on Sunrunner at that time), who was a pure crafter, whip out his ranger to help me find the little critter. We went all the way from the mite caves to about 1k north of the imperial outpost and then going back. Nothing! I was about to call it a day when a guidly on guild chat informs me that there's a lair of greater sludge panthersjust outside Cabal (the guilds city).I was like:"Don't kill it! Don't kill it!"
There were no babies out at the time so I had to kill a few adults to make some spawn. Finally it spawns. On first attempt he agros me and I jump on my speeder and drive away till he droped agro. Going back to the lair I was chanting this sentence over and over: "Please don't despawn, please don't despawn..."
Second try, tamed! Named him (Trouble)

this is more of a CH story in general then a taming story but here goes anyways
A long long time ago, before the creation of shadowfire (the server I now play) and long long before anyone even thought of the CU and pets were still strong and unerfed I went on one of the greatest adventures in SWG I have ever had. Me and my close friend who I still play with today were hanging out at the endor smug outpost when we spotted two other CH. We got to talking with them and they asked if we wanted to help them kill the gorax. Me and my friend Bandit agreed and off we went on a 6k hike to the Marauder stronghold
We got the goraxes mission (yeah there used to be a mission) and went off to find him. We were awed at the size of him and everyone pulled out there best pets. Our forces amassed at 4 combat characters, 2 gsps, a kliknik, graul mauler and a gurreck. We sent our pets in and the fight was on. The gorax would chase after us with his stiff legged gate as he mauled our pets. Soon we were all incapped and he and the graul mauler were battling it out 100m away. The graul was victoriouse and the gorax came stampeding towards our recovering party in fright. We shot him down and so ended a battle of the pets!
