I'm posting this in the hopes I'm doing something wrong.
My pets hit for their minimum damage...every time. I have some high end BE'ed pets: CL 70 kliknik, CL 70 angler, a pair of CL 35 slice hounds, a trio of CL 23 gurrcats. Even the CL70s hit for min damage every single time. This is vs. standard CL 80ish grinding bols and vs. the (CL79-82) NPC BH marks I kill for XP in my Investigation tree (going for MCH/MBH). Whether I group the pet(s) or not. Min dmg every time.
Is this "as intended"? If so, I have to strongly consider leaving the CH thing behind, which makes me sad as I've always been a "tamer"/pet class in every game I've played (GM Tamer (twice) in UO, Necro and Mage in EQ1, etc, etc).

Same here, all attacks are about always the minimum, I think using a special attack is about the only way to get a close to max hit.

Welcome to the CU. If your target is more than 5 or so levels above your level, you hit for min damage every time. Same goes for pets.

Well...crap.
Off to the BH forums then I guess, to find something worthwhile to combo with BH.

On second thought, maybe I'll keep it and help the fight for it to get fixed/changed.

Were you grouped with your pets so they were functioning as level 80's? My pets hit for max damage when grouped with me.

Like I said in the original message, it doesn't matter if the pets are grouped or not, they hit for min dmg every time.
Verbose combat messages? What effect will that have? "(pet) hits (mob) for 106 damage." (106 being the min damage...). Are you saying verbose messages will change that 106 to something else?

yes it will change:
without verbose u only see the damage after armour reduction - with verbose u see the total damage and the points of the armour reduction. so if u see 106 and the opponent is CL80 u can calculate usualy about 50% reduction - so your pet will do around 200 damage.

I have noticed a lack of real power with my pets no matter what they are. I have also never had a pet hit for max grouped or not. IT has came close on Crit hits but never max damage.
One REAL conclusion I have came to. There is no Natural Wild Pet that can touch a Bio pet=0( ..
This upsets me some as whats the use to go out and tame those cool wild pets if all they can do is stand in the shadow of my bio Gurrcat . My Gur is CL 61 and outdamages my Ravenous Boar Wolf and my Reptilian Flyer. ! . What a dissapointment.
I guess the only use for taming is to get EXP while climbing the tree. I guess I need to go tame some Bio Eng friends into a CL70 pet. and just do it that way . Kinda sux .. I enjoyed tamming on endor. Not anyone around and TON'S of critters.

I've been MCH since Aug 03 with some inactive account time in there as well. I think CH was pretty much wrecked with the CU aggro changes then made into a grind with the revamp. I'm pretty much done with it when I can work up the nerve and feel like grinding our Master Rifles.
As for sticking around to affect change..good luck with that.

the better damage output of BE pets comes from the doubled attack speed. u can have an increased attack speed with wild pets thru abilities too. as BE pets dont come with an innate ability and usualy get 1 ability slot less than wild pets u can see its attack speed advantage as their ínnate ability (+ the goodies a good BE put into them).
the ability system gives back some value to wild pets. its amazing what u can do. i teached my CL58 dessert gurreck charger marring storm 2 and vigorous health 2 - now it has stats of a CL70 pet. i will finish its training with some thick skin - so it will end with nearly the same stats as a CL70 (+ fleet footed 1 and blind 2 and harmstring 2 special attacks).
BE pets are still very good in damage dealing - but if u need a real tank pet u better go for a shear mite soldier (with innate thick skin 3) or a rep flyer (with innate agression 3) as basic pet. this leaves u plenty of room for more abilities to use on a tanker (eg. vigorous health, beastly constitution, intimidate attack).

well.. according to official CU documents, CH is supposed to be for tanking, not damage dealing.
