Have you noticed that when you group with your pet that there is now an arrow ( Green ) on the right side of the group bar indicating which direction your pet is? Is this something newly added or have I just never noticed before? Although it still doesn't help when your pet decides to take a rest and drops form view.

Yep, just came with this patch. They made group members have directional arrows when you select them from the group roster. Since pets grouped with you are the same thing as people grouped with you, it works the same way.
