Hey guys..

I'm a novice CH and a riflemen. I have a sludge panther that was really good support, but he grew up and I can no longer bring him out.

what would you guys recommend for a pet that can tank for me so i don't get killed all the time.

p.s.: never become a rifleman, they completely suck.

I'm an aspiring rifleman and I've discovered that you really can only do well with a rifle against NPCs with ranged attacks. If it's creatures that close to melee, I switch over to my pistol.

As for a creature tank, that's not what the profession was supposed to be about. That said, I've a carrion spat I've been raising. When full grown, he'll have 3k HAM and do around 90-140 damage, speed 2. He was easy to tame and seems to absolutely love combat (Except the time we got mobbed by a rogue faamba. Then he ran away like a little girl.)

Riflemen are so bugged right now that you MUST have a means of backup to force your enemy back inorder to prevent them from melee attacks on you or have a secondary skill. You will soon learn this when you try to solo a lair of dung beetles solo without using any other weapon/profesion then a rifle/riflemen.

I will see if i can find a spat.. sounds like it might be good protection.

Hmmm..I am a novice CH and a rifleman. I actually like the rifleman class, especially with a pet strong enough to take aggro whle you get a few MS's off. If it comes to melee warning shot works sometimes LOL.

Anyway pre-patch I used my full grown piket, 9300 HAMs, good speed..a tough dude. Of course now I cant use him, so I pull out my Peko Peko, 2400 HAMs, good attack speedand all is well. He is Level 14 so can be used by anyone and I have seen him take out 3 gurrcats with me adding range support without me healing him in battle. Not bad. He has no armor so can take some damage fast but I have pharm 4 trained..Stim Cs do a great job of healing. For mind, use the BE stims.

Bottom line is I love the Peko as a good low level hunting partner...easy to tame and is below the 15 starter lvl cap. Go get one on Naboo.

BTW With him and crazed durnis, Vynoksor other similar baddies, we camp a nest amd he can pick up some good xp at 75-100 a kill. Let him start attack then finish him off so you get weapon xp, ch xp and Pet gets minimal damage

I've just got enough points for Novice CH. Do I need to find a NPC to teach me this, if so can someone please tell me where to find one (Corelia)?

I just got Novice Creature handler, im on Tatooine so what is the first creature that i should train?

The simplest way to find out is to locate a Nest/Lair of a creature. On your overhead radar (bottom left default position) it'll show up as a yellow square. If it's surrounded by reds, avoid it, as they'll be hostile and - whilst you may be able to kill the creatures easily - it's much simpler if you can find a non-aggressive nest.

When you find one, look for a creature with the (baby) suffix - e.g. eopie (baby). Simply target it and see if Tame appears on the radial menu.

If I recall correctly, you can tame Eopies, Rills, those chicken lizard things (what the hell are they called?) and Worrts as a starter. At 1, 1, 0, 0 I believe you can tame Dewbacks and some other larger critters.

I got a bantha as a pure novice. I tried for a humbaba the other night and didn't have the skill level to tame it. Something in the 2000 ham range might be as high as we can go until we start getting more taming points.
