Thread: here's a tip for widow searchers.

this works EVERY time for me. i ALWAYS find at least one or two widow lairs each attempt.

first you'll need a vehicle. that's a given. saves loads of time and prevents you from being mauled by the..."less hospitable" wildlife.

secondly, go to the endor research outpost. waypoint the center of the outpost. that will be your point of reference.

third, travel away from the outpost, 500m, in any arbitrary direction.

next, travel in a complete circle around the research outpost, using the waypoint as a frame of refrence. if you get too close or too far from the wp, adjust your heading. continue until you make a complete circle around the outpost.

stop for any red dots on your map that you see, TABbing through them to see if there's any widows or queens.

stop for any large yellow square on your radar. if it's an earthen mound, get within 80m and wait until the mobs near it spawn, and TAB through them, and if it's not a widow/queen, move on. if the lair is anything BESIDES an earthen mound, move on, as no arachne will spawn from them.

continue until you make a complete circle around the outpost, then move to 800m away from the outpost, and repeat. then 1.1km. then 1.4km. and, if you wish,1.7km, perhaps even 2km, but it gets time consuming as you get farther away.

it's **edit**-near impossible to not find at least one lair doing this. i've found as many as 3, but no less than 1.

if you don't know what to do if you find a widow/queen lair, then you have bigger problems than finding a baby. you shouldn't be reading this.

now, finding a baby from the lair is a matter in itself that no real strategy can be developed. just hope the force is with you.

That's a good tip!. All of the Queen/Widow lairs I've seen or tried have been close by the Research outpost, usually E or SE, but there's no reason not to "orbit" the outpost, moving outward as you complete each circle. IfI werededicated to going for the elusive Widow baby, I'd use the "digiwrath" method.

I've never had a problem finding widow lairs if I head straight SE from the Research Outpost. It never fails. Circling is a good idea, but a waste of time in my opinion. I've never been to Endor and not run into a widow or screecher lair SE of the outpost. I suggest only doing the circle tactic if you don't find lairs SE.

Folks I hunt on Endor very often, but I'm just a novice so I can't tame those babies. If you play on Eclipse put here your name and I'll send you a tell if I see a lair with babies...

By the way, of it's possible that I can't find a wrix baby anymore? I used to find them in the lairs when I wasn't a CH, but now I always find Mottled wrix babies. No trace of a normal wrix baby.. yesterday I have destroyed 8 wrix lairs. 8! As far as I know it should be a common baby, isn't it? I don't like it in particular, but I've been told it's the best pet for a novice CH...

Here is a better tip

I found on average of a lair an hour by heading any direction south from research and going about 1000 meters. I also checked near the ewok villages because that was a fairly reliable spawn site.

I found my widow after 128 lairs.

Good luck

better tip indeed.

it's not always the southern areas that they spawn. i've found them all around the outpost in general.

and yeah i got one after 3 lairs. your point?

Every single lair ive seen has been East of the outpost in the hills. Then all i did was put a waypoint everytime I saw a lair, overtime if you dont find a baby youll see a concentration graph emarge and know where to focus your searching...thats what i do for every pet im looking for, since the devs cleverly enough have placed pets in certain places not just randomly..

digiwrath,

I have been clearing out queen/widow lairs the past week looking for a pet I might not be so **edit** about using. I went through aboput 20 lairs and wasn't finding much earlier this evening. So, I decided to use your tip. I am glad I did. About 1K nearly directly north of the oupost, I found a lair.

After the first tap, a BABY spawns! Of course, I start having a heart attack. I mask scent , yada yada yada. It bites me on about the third try. I use my burst run. Now that that's done, I get bit and aggro'd again two tries later. I should have waited. The queen sets off a poison spray and the baby is caught, but it continues to follow and fight me while the queen and the widow go toe to toe. The baby gets down to about 10 health points when the poison wears off and chases me for about 10 minutes before finally giving up as I run into some nearby water. Coming out of the water, it proceeds to attack me again even before I can start to tame. Only now, however, I am poisoned. This time it keeps attacking me for easily 15 minutes before Ibecome sidetracked by the stupidand get slain by the poison the baby delivered.

Of course, by the time I get back there, the baby is long gone.I thought I was going to cry. Back to the drawing board. One tame for three now.

BTW, I am not trying to be greedy. If there are any MCH's on Endor looking for queen/widow lairs when I am searching for them as well on Endor. Send a tell, and I will cease and desist. I don't want to rob anyone of anything, but at the same time, I do not want them to go to waste.

Cheers,
