I left SWG 6 months ago, came back 3 days ago. Thanks to the respec system, I respecced so I could get Master Creature Handling.
First thing I did was to find a Bio-Engineer and ask him to make me a Kimogila and Rancor!!!
So I'm just testing them out, trying to see what it's like to finally own these kick @$$ beasts... but they are so slow.
So I'm just testing them out, trying to see what it's like to finally own these kick @$$ beasts... but they are so slow.
So I tell my Kimo to attack... I either do /tellpet a or I just wrote a ... my Kimo turns around, facing the opposite direction of the mob, he growls... I wait... I wait some more... about 5 seconds later, I start seeing the mob's health drop, yet my Kimo isn't even attack, then the mob dies and I see my Kimo start charging at the dead corpse, then runs back to me cause the mob is dead.
What just happened!?
Same for my Rancor. I tell it to attack, he doesn't do jack, 5-10 seconds later it attacks. Rancor worked a bit better though... after 5-10 seconds of waiting, the mob's health is going down and I see my Rancor run up to it, and does kill it off by standing next to it.
It works, but what sucks is it looks friggin' lame. I was so expecting my Kimo and Rancor to charge at the mob and experience a really cool battle in between themselves, but I don't see any of it. *sigh*

What was your ping and your FPS?
My bet is that the Large pets might be lagging you a bit and you aren't seeing them update properly.

There is also the problem of server side lag at times also since CU.
There are times now when the server lags so badly that it's hard to play the game.

Probably just experienced some lag. Sometimes a pet will get stuck on something ( a twig or pebble) and the game will keep track of where it is SUPPOSED to be in the world. Eventually it will effectively be "warped" to where the system says it is supposed to be. It's really quite stupid that such large creatures have difficulty moving over nearly smooth terrain, but it does happen. Of course, this is only one of a few things that can be causing it, and chances are it's a bug...
That image is kinda funny to picture. Rancor looks at the bad guy, bad guy loses half health from fear, rancor pounces on bad guy ( Bongo SMASH!!!) and kills him. I would personally rather see limbs flying when my pets attack something...

My kimogilas always do that, it takes them a good 5 or 6 seconds to catch up with targets, I always just thought it was the server not keeping up with sending me data :/.

Also, unless they've changed it, /tellpet doesn't work with single-letter commands.

Yeah it would be cool to see the rancor pick up an NPC enemy and actually bite it's head off LOL!

I guess it's lag. I'm finally getting back into the game, I'm seeing lag everywhere.
Joined a hunting group on Endor, mobs reaction is horrible. Or I do a special attack like a knockdown move, I only see it happen 3-5 seconds later.
Or I knock down an NPC from range, he falls to the ground and I see his fallen body float on the ground closer to me.
Kinda weird to see. I hope SOE fixes this.
