Thread: Question for my fellow MCH players

I am about to make a drastic change to my main character, Jakkarus. I am unlocking Jedi in a few weeks and he will no longer be a MCH. A few days ago I started up a second account and have begun the task of grinding up MCH/TKM again. My question to all of you is which seems to work better for XP, taming all the commands you can on every baby in sight, or PvE using the pet? I would like to grind this character out as fast as I can so I can still have a strong toon while my main one starts the slow path to a Jedi

Thanks!

It is such an xp grind to master CH that I would do both....

1) Get all the babys you can and train them while you're killin' time waiting on other things, then drop them

2) Get all the crap pets you canand hook up with a big hunting party, call all the pets you can and have them attack everything in sight and you get CH xp for each pet in a winning fight. (other tip:train group command g<petsname> like gfroggy, that way it avoids some dropping otherr pets when you just say "g" or "group")

Even then it is going to take you an eternity with the new XP levels.

Good luck!

Well I did both, I hunt alot on Tatt, and before we started th missions, I went tamed all the babies. And if a baby spawned, someone would yell out "Baby" and I would go tame it.
I also grinded with a baby gurrcat, becuase he hit for so lttle damage he rarely was agroed, and if he incpaped, the recovery time was very quick.

I find your lack of pants disturbing.

I cannot teach him. The boy has no pants.

Your pants, you will not need them.

I had a friend who was grinding BE so he gave me BE pets to train.

I am a TKM/MCH, recently converted by hand from a TKM/Fencer 4434/Doc 4---.

I group-hunted pretty much exclusively on Dant in pub groups, using my RotW L10 Veractyl until I felt like training something else to work with. Very fast, very painless. And much, much faster than training commands and releasing if you have CLs to work with, since CLs drive how much XP you can accumulate per critter.

If you're starting at ground zero, I'd probably build up TK first, as it's easy nowdays to find a group with TKs / Brawlers available to train you "in the field". At the same time, you can harvest hide to fill in your scout requirements very quickly. Once you have significant levels of TK ( I'd recommend master, as L54 really helps in your ability to get XP ), then I'd start on CH with any old critter, and just stand around while the pet whacks the group-selected target at least once for XP.

If your CL is very low, perhaps critter teaching would be an option: but I found the amount of time it took to train 10 commands on one critter was on the order of a one to two minutes ( depending on how efficient I was ). 500xp * 10 commands = 5000 xp total. In that same amount of time, a pub group can easily drop 3-4 bols ( 3500 xp at CL 54 * 3 = 10500 XP, more or less ), for a much quicker -- and less irksome -- task of XP gain. And missions give money, which train-and-release does not.

Granted, if you're going for fun, wandering the wilds is certainly more enjoyable, at least to me. But when I wore my "grinder's hat" there was no way I could turn down pub groups for quick XP gain.

While I prefer taming to grinding, doing both gives you a bit of a change of pace. With the new special system going in, it would actually benefit you to tame things with new specials and use them until you learn the ability. So you can get master using both methods and have a nice selection of specials, too.

That's what I've been doing. But it seems that I have been hit with the "You can't tame that" bug. So I guess I will try to tame when I can, and just keep at the TKM, which is going rather nicely. While I may not get it as fast as I did with my main since you can't buff and slaughter everything in sight, I'm getting there.

Thanks for the info!

I agree, getting TKM is my top goal right now. I plan on taming as many babies that I can out in the wild while grinding, but I was just wondering what the best way to go was since I am focusing on getting MCH/TKM as fast as I can so I can replace my MCH/TKM soon to be Jedi player as fast as possible.

Thanks for the tips!

DEFINITELY using pets in combat, particularlywhen group hunting. Look on taming of babies as a helpful bonus.
