Thread: Damage output

As I was looking at the modifiers gained while progressing through the fencer trees... I noticed that there's no "One Handed Melee Damage +15", etc as you level up.

TKA has this throughout the Power tree...

So what I'm wondering is, as a fencer, am I only as good as my weapons/specials? Or does your damage output indeed increase as you progress?

Thanks in advance, I am new to this profession.

Do you like it? Do you like it, Scott? I call it, "Mr. & Mrs. Tenorman Chili"

no melee class except TKM gets a straight boost to dmg as you describe

this is due to their ostensible lack of weaponry, I suppose (though they do indeed have weapons)

your avg dmg will increase somewhat, however, as you gain accuracy mods (at least thats how it worked for MHS and MRM)

from most accounts, though, fencers do not do a ton of dmg even at master

Correct...the trade offfor not doing a ton of damage is dodge, applying offence and defence reducing states, accuracy and speed.

So,is it better (as far a damage output) to have 3 pets Cl 25, 25, & 20 (or any make up to 700 with damage ranges x - 300, than 1 CL 70 creature with 450 max damage?

Follow up question, if the answer to the question above is "yes", then what is the "value" of having a CL 70 creature?

I prefer to use 3 CL 23 pets because combined they will out damage any single CL70 pet. The same can be said for 2 CL35 pets.

Where the CL70 pet has the advantage is that it can take a lot more damage. This will be especially of importance in the new pet system with Aggression (L3), since it should hold aggro a heck of a lot better then you can see with any of our current pets.

So, the question will become, what you do want more? A single pet that can take much more damage, twins that are a good balance of damage and health, or triplets that do more damage, but have less health?

Ive found that MOBs will constantly switch between pets, so that damage gets distributed evenly amongst the three or two. Much different in PvP where they can focus on one at a time. I just have more success with tanking and dealing damage with multiple pets in the mix in PvE.

Currently I prefer one pet. With the new special system going in, I may work with twins again, but I will have to see how things go.

The one nice thing about CH is there are a lot of ways to approach it, so you can hopefully find one that appeals to you.

For outright, reliable DPS I go with my one 499 max damage pet, I haven't had any post-CU triplet teams ordered since I assumed their HAM would be too low to be much use in PvE :/.

Thanks all, GREAT info and perspective. I'm still trying to figure out what works for me. I'm coming back after a yr off and I find my existing pets are useless, but got lucky with my personal CL because Im a TKM. I still don't understand the rationale or matrix they used for the conversions because some of my previously stronger pets are the weakest, while the others are the strongest. I usually do mostof the tanking with my pets making up for my lack of (significant) damage output with TKM.

I will continue to check this forum and the stickies are VERY helpful. Keep 'em comin'.

On a side note, if anyone is willing, can you list the creature you prefer with your style? So if you prefer using on 2 pets, what are they, if you prefer only on elite, what is it?, etc.

Thanks again!!

I use a gaping spider hunter almost exclusively when hunting anything that is a threat. I will also be using a reclusive shear mite once it has grown.

If I'm in a situation that is not as threatening, I'll use whatever strikes my fancy at the time. With the specials system, I'll likely be rotating my pets to level them up and prepare them for training.
