Thread: Dropped CH
If only the pet AI worked the new special system would be worth while. It seems everyone has stars in their eyes and can't see that pets are still broken.

This is one major step, in that it addresses several of the biggest broken areas. Other issues remain of course -- for example, I just got back from TC-Bria, and my toon still could not fire a weapon while riding his bolotaur mount. But for me, the missing specials were the main reason I dropped Creature Handler... or at least considered it expendable when it came time for me to choose between Bounty Hunter and Creature Handler as the first casualty of my budding Jedi career. For now, it's enough to warrant close attention. If this works out, I may well wind up dropping Master Combat Medic on my unlocked toon and rebuilding him as a MBH/MCH.

Except that after this goes through, the developers will forget all about us again. The world will see us as balanced. "You got your publish" will be the cries of all... I am also concerned that what we are getting is just another thing to calm the disgruntled Creature Handler. A "bone" has been thrown to us and I'm sure we are expected to gnaw on it til the end of time. I'm glad that specials are being put in (they should never have been removed), but it sounds like they just cloned their slicing fix and pushed it on us. "We're sorry we broke it, we're gonna revamp it anyway and this time you'll have to spend limitless hours searching for exact items to get a moderate improvement."
you know, i aggree that the CH changes look pretty good, but in all honesty, the aggro turn around killed it for me. I'm not a big poster, i ususally ask a couple of questions, look for advice and generaly just read whats going on. Ive had a character with CH on one server or another since I started 2 years ago. Decided it would be fun to do it again an ahazi because my character there did almost all the combat and artisan branches, so a smuggler/CH combo was one of the few choices i had left. Now, i cant hunt solo like i want to, which is 99% of the game for me because of the long hours I work. And when I get deployed in dec '06, ill be gone a year, so I might have to let my hubby check on my account for me. Thing is, money is no issue when it comes to the game, 14.99 is nothing, hell i spent more than that on drinking ![]()
I will say that the new ch changes look good, but i will wait a few months while they tweak them. after seeing the problems they've had on TC, I think i will use the time to get my FS trees up. I can always get new pets. ![]()
Im on ahazi if anyone wants to give some of my pets a new home.

LOL... yeah, the devs do have their work cut out for them on all the profession issues, not just Creature Handler. But it sounds like the list of proposed specials will help in many areas, including aggro management (apparently, a working "Pet Menace" ability is in the mix).
Going forward from Pub. 21, it would be our job and our correspondent's job to make sure our remaining issues are not forgotten.
