i just heard about a CL 65 silver varactyl that you could get before ROTW. Is this true and if so does anyone have a screenie of it?

CL 65 yes, silver no. The CL 65 version is available to those who have the download ROTW version and you have to talk to the guy at the rodian camp with the varactyl behind him to start the quest.

Actually the lvl 65 version of the varactyl has a slightly silvery skin, still mostly green, but with a silver taint.
Most definitely a different color from the dark green of the lvl 10 version.
And yes you get it from a quest on Kash open only to MCH who have the digital download (because I have the total experience box, and am unable to get the quest as a MCH).
The questgiver is at the Rodian Hunting Camp close to the entrance of Etyyy, it is the guy standing next to the varactyl.
If you don't have the DD version, your only hope is to look on the bazaar (under Misc -> General Items -> "a varactyl egg"), or find someone to sell you either the egg or the hatched one.
I did both, so now I have it twice

there is a nest with a named <> varactyl guarding it, when i went to that nest i was able to take an egg from it. when i did it i wasnt a mch but now that i am, maybe i can get it that way? i didnt get the digital download...

I'm pretty sure you need the DD, there is no work around as you need the quest to actually get the egg with the varactyl in it, However as the person above said people do sell them, just look for them in your listed vendors on the bazaar.
Those with the total experience don't get the npc to talk to them :-(

I think its possible if you are in a group attacking the jagged fang and didnt grab the mission everyone in group can still grab the egg after its defeated (keep in mind at least one person needs to have the mission )
but I could be wrong still might be worth a try

i know about the quest and have already done it (easiest quest in the game btw). Some one was auctioning off a silver varactyl that he said he got before ROTW for like 20 mil. just wondering if it was a hoax.
