For whatever it is worth, I have confirmed that the King Merek Harvester and Queen Merek Harvester are again labeled as tamable.
The Queens can be found as initial lair spawn. The Kings...probably as hard to find as they were prior to Dec '03. They may indeed be the one of the new rares of this game.
Additionally, the regular Merek Harvesters are also now labeled tamable, and they are higher than the King and Queen Harvesters at a stout level 58.
The Toxic Merek Battlelord has been upped to level 54 (previously 45).
In a nutshell, a lot more Mereks are allegedly tamable. Time will tell as those who have the patience to hunt them down under the new system confirm or debunk whether or not babies spawn. Considering the fact that a Frenzied Graul was tamed today, I would say there's a good chance that the aforementioned beasts are all capable of spawning kiddos.
Off-topic (while I'm thinking about it):
The Greater Sludge Panther is down to level 23, which means you can pull 3 of them out again with taming clothes. How they will fare under the new system, only time will tell.

Side note: With the Kings and Queens tamable again, perhaps our good friend Milteck can enlighten us to the old days, and how these creatures were found and tamed.

There's a static KMH spawn on Endor at 3861, 5762. If you can tame the adult, it won't be as rare as you might think.

Those will be the hardest rares to find next to the Mire Marauder, Bull Rancor, and Aracne Queen.
Best bet is not that static spawn listed above but look nw in the mountains beside the desert.
Good luck
