Thread: Is a MCH really suppose to be that way?

Ok I have come to find (as I'm sure everybody has at one point during their ch training)that there are twobiggeneral categoriesof CH. The first one is the hologrinding CH, which buys a couple of good be pets and grinds through the profession asap then very soon after that drops it.
The second category includes everyone that plans to keep CH. In this category there aresome people that won't reach mch because of templatesand they are others that will in fact do reach MCH.
Now to stop rambling and get to my point:
How can someone who is a MCH spend all his time spammingthat he wants to buy a bull rancor? What's thepoint behind this?
I mean,fora MCHto have a bull rancor is a very glorious thing indeed. It alsousually involves countless hours of searching or great luck. What enjoyement can someone get from buying one? Sure at first it might be cool to say you have one and to show em off and use him inbattle because it's the highest pet, but what do you say to someone who asks you how long it took you to tame it? "It took me about 100 hours of spamming to get mine"?
I can see that a hologrinder that'll drop the professionwill buy pets because they don't care about going into the wild and searching for rare pets but a MCH who keeps spamming must surely plan on keepingCH for a while...
What I am asking is to you CHs think is: isit worth it to buy a bull rancor? Is it something to be proud of? Is someone who's buying pets missing out on the best ch has to offer?
If the person I am refering to recgnises himself I only want to know what are your motivations behind this and I am sorry if you feel offended by my post.

There is certainly a lot to be said about the thrill of the hunt and the glory of a rare tame.

a rare animal along the lines of the bull rancor is meant to be a badge of honor. you are to go out and EARN it.
there is no respect to be given to the people that buy them.

Yes...TAMING your very own pet has a vastly different feeling as getting (or buying) one from someone (BE pets not included).
I was given a webmaster by someone (sorry, I forget your name), and it is MUCH appreciated...but when out in the wild, I still look for a baby (occassionally).
I have GIVEN away 3 (regular) Rancor babies to Novice CH's (aspiring masters) in hopes that that pet can HELP them attain master-hood. I tamed those while searching for Bull babies (still no luck).
I tamed my first Mantigrue Screecher this weekend (HURRAY!) and BOY was that a thrill!!!!
Thanks to my Aukuan (spelling?) belt and it's +17 disease (defense?), I was NEVER TOUCHED by their plague strike (I know they used it, because my pet was hit numerous times, and I was fighting right along side it, and the screechers turned to face me numerous times).
The THRILL of the HUNT...the HONOR of SHOWING someone YOUR TAMED BEASTS!!!!
There's nothing like it for the TRUE Master Creature Handler!

I would have to agree with you, although I am guilty of purchasing a few BE gurrcats and an arachne widow. I have not reached master yet (4-4-2-4) but I cant wait. I am actually fond of GURR (my BE gurrcat) as he is awesome while grinding. However out of all my pets my four favorites are my two Crimson Razor Cats (Razor and Blade), my Greater Sludge Panther (Darkside) and my Angler (EightIt). I will never forget the thrill of finding and taming these guys. I will be a CH for a long time as to me it is a thrilling profession. And you can rest assured when I get my Bull Rancor it will be tamed by me and I'll post it here to let you guys know a MCH grabbed another one.

While I personally agree, it all depends upon the person.
I know one long-time collector on Starsider that likes having rares and extincts and finds that gathering them through whatever method can be as fun as a simple hunt. He deals with people this way instead of a lair. He is still a handler after all the profession has gone through, so more power to him.
For myself, I have never used a pet someone gave me. I either traded it off or released it if they would not take 'no' for an answer. I did not even use BE pets until I became one because it was the same situation. Now that I have to hunt for specific creatures, sample them at greater risk than taming, then carefully craft them I do not mind. I put as much or more effort and love into their creation as I ever did finding a baby.

I agree here. I just hit BE recently. I am wanting to make my own pet. It is very exhilirating trying to sample some of those large beasts to make an excellent pet. However, Iwill always prefer wild over BE made, (unless I made it myself 
) Right now I got a nice Bearded Jax at CL28 with decent Kin and En resists with over 9K HAM, I am searching for a nice trio of Bearded Jax to use for a little while. Don't know why but I am.

Some people just prefer to spend time asking for a pet than spend time to find one...
My self, I cannot buy something that I could earn on my own.
1 char is a CH, I cannot buy a non-BE pet, this seems silly to me.
1 char is an Armorsmith (novice), well I cannot imagine myself buying some armor from someone.
But some people will do so... so, whatever, it does not concern me
